Going Raw can be expensive, or Cheap. Here are some money saving tips:

When fruits such as berries or bananas at the store are discounted due to over ripeness, take advantage of the opportunity to buy them for freezing. They are good for frozen smoothies.
Avocadoes can be expensive, they can alaso be frozen with the skins on them so if they're on sale, freeze them
A really cheap salad that i love to make is my brussel sprout salad. Its light and refreshing, not like cooked sprouts at all. Just shred the leaves of about 4 large brussel sprouts, or 6 small, dice up some onion, mix those together and add the juice of about half a lemon and a splash of olive oil.
Buying nuts online can be expensive but raw almonds, sunflower seeds, and pumpkin seeds are easy for me to find at grocery stores and flea markets. For pricey nuts such as macadamias my family contacted a local seller of nuts and candy to see if he could find some to sell to us. We get those for $5 per pound when the are usually $15 or more per pound.
Buying nuts in bulk also can save money when they are on sale. Just don't do this if you get nut cravings because you might just eat them all right away. My will power got stronger after being on raw for a while.
To stop yourself from eating too many nuts I found it was good to start with a limit of a half cup of nuts a day. After time I stopped using measurements and just was careful about my intake.
Also, you don't have to order alot of special raw foods online. I save that for special occasions or ask for them as Birthday or Christmas presents. There are alot of complicated recipes out there but the simple ones are just as good.
Preparing fruits as soon as you get them home from the store helps lengthen their shelf life. For me this includes washing berries, cubing melons, husking strawberries, etc. And then putting them in containers to refrigerate.
Don't go on shopping sprees and buy too much food, it will go bad. Have staples like tomatoes, avocadoes, and lemons on hand but keep nonstaples to a minimum. If you are your nonraw family's chef and you have berries that are going bad you can make preserves for your family. That is if your family is not raw. It isnt as good as fresh but its better than store bought jellies and is a step closer to raw.
Don't snack through out the day. Personally it upsets my stomach and eats away my budget. A goal for me is two medium sized meals a day. If you want three though there isn't anything wrong with that.
Kale can be frozen and put into frozen green smoothies. Just make sure you wash and de-stem it before freezing. Its helpful to me when I'm at a store that only sells kale in boulder sized bags.
Raw peanuts are cheap, but they upset by stomach if they arent organic. They aren't extremely healthy but wen transitioning its okay to have some every now and then as filler foods. My advice is not to eat more than 1/4 cup of them a day, and not to eat them with salt because they can be addicting if you get used to the salty taste.

Does freezing the Kale change the taste. Is it a drink your smoothie right away type of thing because the Kale goes funny once it's not froozen. I've never froozen Kale and just wondering about the in's and out's of it.
