Hello all,
I'm in an ongoing good natured debate with my roommate who is becoming more and more open to veganism and healthier lifestyle choices about the sustainability of vegan diets in terms of humans being able to grow enough plant food sustainably to feed the world's population. I know Diet for A Small Planet is awesome, but is there anything more current than that that is really good?
Thanks so much,
Audrey

If you want a very good internet resource for it, visit the "PeakMoment" channel on youtube.
Basically, deep discussions of green, sustainable, local, oil independence, permaculture, and the like. They basically go to all these different locations and talk to the owners about how they got their, the realities of life, what they grow, and their philosophy. EXTREMELY informative. Highly recommended to steal ideas from.

If people, specially here in the US, don't start taking climate change more seriously, we won't have to worry about sustainability of ANY diet. Our planet will no longer be hospitable to life for most animals, including the human animal.

Never Be Sick Again by Raymond Francis is great. Not sure if it gives enough of what you're looking for. He does talk about other countries and times when people use to live strictly off their land. Some still do I think.

I totally agree! Which is why, in addition to being a raw food coach, I work in the renewable energy field. I do solar sales and marketing and love my job.

Check out this free booklet I had a hand in making:

It's kind of Australian centered, but is applicable to any western country.
