hi all,
i am wondering why i am having what sounds like a waterfall in my intestines at times. last night i had trouble sleeping because i kept having an urgent need to go to the bathroom (diahrrea). today it has continued, at least the intestinal noises, and the diahrrea is just starting up again. i experienced this a few days ago as well.
i am trying to figure out what the cause is...perhaps garlic or something in the dip/dressing that my body is not used to?
i have been eating 1 lb of lettuce a day for quite a while, so doesn't seem like that would be the problem...though maybe bc i was not consistent with it, my body is not used to it now?
another thought is...dried fruit? perhaps my body is working hard to digest it? it seems worst when i drink water. i would expect maybe something like this on a green smoothie fast, but i am not green smoothie fasting. feedback please! and if this is normal (doesn't seem normal to me), does it ease up with time?
thanks in advance!

I found out the hard way that I cannot eat garlic :(
It could be that, or you could have Small Bowel Bacteria Overgrowth, this will cause a lot of gurgling, and bloating. It is different than candida. Do a GOOGLE search on SBBO or SIBO and see if your symptoms match these.
Good luck to you, I know how you feel all too well :(

Dried fruit can definitely kick up the beasties in your gut.

I'm curious how you found out? This is how I found out.

I stopped eating garlic about a year ago. Recently I ordered some food from a restaurant and it had pieces of garlic in it...all the other ingredients were usual in my diet.

I ate the garlic thinking that it wouldn't be so bad...but it was...I got moderate stomach pains for a little while...not pleasant.

I wasn't sure if it was the garlic so I tried about a week later and had the same result.

I used to love garlic but no more garlic for me now.

I love garlic too, but it sure doesn't like me :(

I get awful reflux that burns so bad, and severe stomach pains that won't go away for a day or so, and then I have really bad gas (sorry if TMI) and I just feel AWFUL. Also I get really bloated.
I get like this if I eat onion, and anything from that family.
I have gastroparesis, so I know I have a very hard time digesting it, and I have even tried taking out the middle "stem" of the garlic as some people suggested, but it didn't work.
When I eat Tahini, it really messes me up too, so I'm thinking that the Tahini has to do with the fat that's in it, because I don't digest fat very well
either :(
To be honest that's why I have a hard time staying 100% raw, there isn't much I can eat and be comfortable, and you get bored of blended foods.
But I'm praying I can get back to 100% in the new year, and really figure out how to heal the Gastroparesis.

ive got stomach issues also , and ive tried a million things 4 years raw
without healing but rather only avoiding worse problems by staying raw .
to me its ive got to find the proper diet mixture then stick to it long term in order to heal , so i keep seeking while never doubting raw is right

and recently ive started soaking RYE WHEAT SEED , i get it at whole foods market for .99 per pound and its organic . i take like half cup and put in water for several minutes or more to clean off anything . i then drain and put back in water for 24 hours , i use quart mason jars . at 24 hours i drink the water for its b vitamins and any probiotic activity . i then rinse seeds and refill with water to then again after another 24 hours drink the water . then one more 24 hour stint , at this time theres noticable probiotic activity in the water you can taste . i then after 3 days soaking eat the seeds plain for their protein and b vitamins . its nice and chewy / not special tasting but just simple earthy tasting , but its filling / no prep / and nutricious

and ive tried both soft and hard wheat along with rye and softs the worst imo as it taste more startchy , hards good but to me ryes best

im going to delve further into soaked / slightly sprouted seeds at this point to see how other types taste

also have you tried changing drinking water source as for many its a constant that could be the problem . or try a reverse osmosis water filter as to me water in plastic bottles isnt a healthy seeming option

one thing from past that helped my gut a bit was the
amino acid L-GLUTAMINE

the garlic / onions upsetting to my gut too but i crave it in my salad dressings so cheat on it often . but as it sounds like you know ' stomach war ' is not a game one can cheat at is it :D
ive tried every way to cheat and it dont work ;)

i was reading a bit in one of my books...and didn't even think about it at the time, but makes a lot of sense...the whole "food combining" thing.
when i eat fruit, it goes through me quickly. when i eat fatty stuff, it takes longer. so if i eat fruit while the fatty stuff is still digesting, the fruit ferments because it is breaking down and can't get through...thus the gas and bloating. i am thinking about the two days that are so clear in my brain and i believe i did this on both days....also one day i ate a fatty dressing with quick-digesting (watery) cucumber...
today i ate fatty almond butter/honey/raisin, but no fresh fruit afterward. no bloating. i didn't eat lettuce bc i was out and about...
maybe if i eat my fatty dressing in the later afternoon, after eating all my fruit, it could be ok. will check out this hypothesis.
thanks everyone- i am considering your input as well!
