Hi everyone. I have been thinking it seems to be so much easier to stay raw by having lots of green smoothies (I put tons of stuff in them often) and lots of fresh juiced fruits and veggies. However I am just wondering what you all think/know or have experienced with living solely on these for many, many days at a time. We don't chew much if this is the only way we get our nourishment. Does this matter?

And my teeth are hurting a bit now when I eat something like a salad for supper. Why would this be happening? I have just begun to use "Toothsoap - shreds". Neat things. (Teeth were hurting before I started using them - and I did have a lot of real, pure junk (sugary) just about the time my teeth began to hurt again, but I am almost certain that I have no cavities). I purposely looked at everything around here marked "toothsoap" and there wasn't one single one without glycerin, so I ordered this stuff from the U.S. Hopefully, my enamel will build up again? Before this I always used "Sensodyne". And my teeth are not hurting at the moment - basically when I chew.

So I am wondering a bit about these things.:)

I have no idea bout the teeth but I do know about living on GS. Yes you can! Some people have done nice long GS feasts. 100 days - 6 months... a year... so no worries there. Of course it depends on you, your situation and your body!

Well, your teeth look just fine Aleesha:) and that is what I thought - that some had done this for months without any problems. I think that, in my case, if I have strengthened my body over time by doing this, then, later, I'd been much more likely to try different raw recipes from the site here and Alissa's book and other book I have - because I'd have the energy and my thinking would be clearer. This shows you how tired I am.:( I think I am one who worries too much about getting it just right - I should learn to listen to my body and just keep doing the best I can.

Any more of you have something to add here? Come on rawbies - let me hear from you.

Obviously I am not exactly sure what is going on with your teeth, but I do know that my own teeth are very sensitive to acidic foods, especially fresh pineapple. Are you having a lot of pineapple in your GSs?

laura-jane - Yes, as a matter of fact I had quite a bit of pineapple this week, but I drank it in the smoothies - does that still affect the surface of one's teeth? It is just about 3 molars that bothered me - where I do all my chewing on one side of my mouth - and it was the chewing of the salad that was getting to me. Thanks for the idea - it's something to think about but you know what? it hasn't happened before and I have had lots and lots of pineapple.:D

When I first went raw, for my first year and a half, I had one blender full of green smoothie that took me until late afternoon. I would have fruit after that.

I would come home and have a light early dinner and maybe a cacao yummy after that.

It was the key to my success.

All summer I lived on green juice. Profound for healing and cleaning house(my body).

Teeth..sounds like you are on the right track with the toothsoap w no glycerin. Pineapple can do funny things.

Victoria Boutenko says "use them or lose them". She has a patent pending on a jaw exerciser she invented to exercise teeth/jaw bone.

Sometimes I get pain on my main chewing side. I can always trace it back to chomping on something hard. I stay away from eating whole macadamias and unsoaked almonds or pumpkin seeds. Both give me tender teeth and sore jaw bone that takes a week or more to heal, longer if I don't give my jaw a rest.

Hope you feel better soon.

Thanks for your comments Knitster and lovenlife.:D

I was pretty sure we were supposed to chew. That sounds like such a dumb thing to say - but, forgive my silliness, it is 2 in the morning.

lovenlife - when you say you lived on green juices during the summer, did you mean that was all you had or simply that you used them daily along with those other yummy foods?
