View Full Version : Raw New Year's Resolutions?

I enjoy making resolutions, and this year I believe is the year that I will actually see progress in my resolutions. Being raw has helped me to see that I really do have discipline and can finish what I start. I have spent the last few days thinking about what I want to accomplish this year in the area of eating and health.

1> Take my health to the next level. I believe I have reached the maximum of what I am going to accomplish with what I am doing right now. My weight loss has stopped and while I feel good most of the time, I know I can feel better. So I am studying several raw food books from Gerson and Hippocrates Institute and I plan to incorporate some changes. I will not get too radical (though most people would say I am already, lol) but plan to slowly add some do-able things that I believe I can stick to.

2> Start the New Year with a green smoothie fast. My plan at the moment is to go from January 2-January 16. After that I will take it one day at a time. I may also do some green juicing as I learn more about it. No fruit juices, my body definitely does NOT like them, or at least not pure fruit juice.

3> Exercise. I have already started the Couch to 5K program, though I got derailed this last week by an ice storm. Tomorrow I start back up. I am also going to start doing T Tapp again. On January 15th they are having a 30 day challenge, which I plan to participate in.

4> Start sprouting. I have bought Ann Wigmore's sprouting book and plan to add sprouts to my diet daily. I may also try to grow greens in the windowsill.

5> Have a huge garden this summer. No excuses! I just have to plant enough to share with the earwigs.

My goal for the year is to not be overweight by the end of the year. By the BMI charts, that means I need to lose 18 pounds. When I reach 147, I will do a body fat measuring and then go from there to see if I want to lose more, which I probably will. I don't want to obsess about it. 18 pounds is not even 2 pounds a month........should be able to handle that.

My plan for eating is to stay as raw as I am capable of being. I don't worry about my nuts, etc. If it says raw, I eat it. So far it is working great.

So, what about you? Do you have plans for the New Year?

I plan on beginning the year fasting... and continuing for as long as I feel the need.

Getting back into yoga, spending more time receiving Reiki (since I'm always giving it'll be a treat to receive), and more time meditating.

Ahhhh I love my life!

My plans are still shaping up. They are along the same lines of thinking you are at. My goal is to create more abundance in my life. An abundance of health, wealth, serenity, and happiness. And get back to releasing more weight. For starters on January 2 I'm going to begin enjoying a simpler menu of mainly green smoothies, fruit smoothies, coconuts, nut milks and simple salads. Just as importantly, I must stop making excuses about not having time to exercise.

And get back to releasing more weight.

Me too! I seem to be doing pretty good but still need to make some changes. I too will be eating much simpler. More mono-eating

In addition to my Green Smoothie routine, I want to add a Green Juice every day. My overarching goal for 2010 is to consciously ALKALIZE - going green on the inside!!!

I want to really create a shift in perception in my world. I think that going raw will help with that, but I want to recapture that sort of "magical" (for lack of a better word) excitment about life I used to have!

On more physical terms, I want to be able to wake up every morning to clear skin. I want to feel beautiful, and I haven't felt beautiful in a long time!

I want to stop thinking in terms of "I'll do that tomorrow." I have so many things that I love, or used to love: reading, playing the fiddle and guitar, creating things, WRITING...and I'm always thinking, "Oh, tomorrow I can do that," or "I don't have time today." I want to think in terms of TODAY! I want to make goals, work for them, and achieve them. I'm always writing things down that I think or feel or want to do, but rarely do I act on those things.

I want to feel alive this year!!

I have been on again off again raw since 2005 with the major stretch of 3 consistent years....I WAS doing great! What went wrong? Why did I start listening "to others" and STOP listening to my body????? I am really overwhelmed at this point in my LIFE as far as eating goes. I don't WANT to get caught up in it all but I am so distraught and torn to know what I want to do and need to do! I guess I need and want good solid advice from like minded people. Here is what I do know-about me---

I am a Christian woman.
I have problems with emotional eating and "past" shame issues with binge eating.
I am really into working out-currently on day 24 of P90x + a runner.
I have MANY digestive issue
I have gained weight back in the past year that is NOT going away even with A LOT of exercise
I love raw food but get tempted!
I am the type that NEEDS and desires a PLAN
I need support
I need support
ditto!

Is there any hope for me?

I want to cut back on the amount of nuts I eat.
Incorporate two 1 hour sessions of cardio a week into my workouts. (I already do 1/2 hour cardio 5x a week plus 1 hour of strength training).

NFracer - Sounds like you need to do Alissa's 30-Day plan!! (http://rawfoodtalk.com/showthread.php?t=53452) Renee did it, I've done it, LOTS of people use it to get themselves back on track. So... treat yourself to Alissa's book + DVD's to start off the New Years... and just remember that every day is YOUR choice. And every bite is YOUR choice! I of course hope that you choose Raw. Choose to LIVE.

Now, to post my rawsolutions (http://www.examiner.com/examiner/x-32486-Tucson-Raw-Food-Examiner~y2009m12d27-New-Years-Rawsolutions), which have been churning in my brain for weeks now but have not yet gotten on paper, if you can believe it!

Greenie's Wild Aspirations for 2010

First, just wanted to link a valuable article by raw vegan Steve Pavlina on the Power of Clarity (http://www.stevepavlina.com/articles/power-of-clarity.htm). (I began writing down goals (CLEAR, definable goals) when I was a child - don't know why, as no one actually taught me to do this until my early 20's... but let me tell you, it truly does work. Everything wondrous that I have experienced these past few years, from becoming an Opera singer to traveling Europe, stemmed from teen/child goals scrawled in journals or on posters for my wall. ~ Greenie)

#1 - Get into the Voice Studio of the illustrious, remarkable Dr. Dauphinais. (http://web.cfa.arizona.edu/sites/kdauphin/) I am giving myself to the End of the Year to accomplish this as this is NO small task. Her Studio is exclusive and she is the best teacher at the School, and has a national reputation for training successful singing-actors. The good news is that I currently study under her STAR pupil, which means my foot is in the door. *deep breathe* Time to shove my whole self in!

#2 - Practice the Law of Attraction consciously, intentionally, and daily as I work hard to build my Income to over $2,000/month profit by the end of the Year, working from Home for myself and doing what drives me!

#3 - Maintain my 4.0 GPA for Spring, Summer and Fall 2010 semesters... heck, if I did it last year, I can do it this year, too! Whew. I can't believe I'm writing this one down. Never mind... I have done it for 3.5 yrs, I can do it again, and I will!

#4 - Start a composting pile and successfully compost at least 75% of my Raw Waste by March 1, 2010... this gives me a few months of trial and error + researching to figure out what works for my new living situation.

#5 - Build up to doing Yoga, Tai-Chi, Latin Dance, Bicycling or Walking for at least 45 minutes daily by the end of the Year. This will happen in stages, as my knees and back continue to heal and respond more and more to exercise. I'm a wee bit nervous, but I'm also ready to start getting ACTIVE, again! (And today my Sweetie bought me wire baskets for my bicycle... so I can ride to a few of the nearby stores/Markets to stock up on Raw Foods, now! :D)

#6 - Complete at least 35 tasks off my 101 in 1,001 Days (http://dauntlessdiva.com/1001-2/) list by the end of 2010! This would of course include eating all-Raw and Living Foods for the entire year 2010... consistently!!!

To start "going raw", indefinitely. That's my only resolution, because it's the only one I believe I can keep. Maybe by the next new year's, my laziness will have diminished enough that I can resolve to work on my idea for a peer-to-peer form of the web. Not truly capable at the moment, not in the state I'm in. Always miserable and distracting myself with mindless activities and daydreams...

Thoughts become things. What you think, is what you are. So... if you really want to change your LIFE, then you have to change your THOUGHTS about life.

I just got really inspired by you tube this morning to get in the best shape of my life!!! That's a really good thing!! :)

I figured if I can get really good about eating the raw food diet for almost two years.

Then I can get really get good at exercising like I have always wanted to, that really shows the results that I do love to take care of my body on the inside and on the outside!!!!

Yes, love is the main successful factor for me here. So I'll start off with affirmations such as that I love to take care of my body by exercising and eating raw and so on to reverse any hidden negative attitude I may have about exercising. The affirmations for me are very effective especially when I first went raw. So I will be showering myself with lots of love to achieve my goal!

So I'm going to take a pic of myself now that shows the results just mainly from walking and going raw and compare it to my future picture results with variety of exercises that I will be doing to show what a huge difference exercise can make. Raw already made a huge difference for me anyways and want to show how exercise can really boost and enhance the beautiful results of raw food!! Exercise is important too for our health and well-being!!

The beautiful thing about going raw is that it has given me so much energy to exercise. I feel like I finally can truly achieve my goal this time around!!!

So yes to rawkin on and be in the best shape of my life for 2010 and for Life!!! :)
