My classmate told me about a co-op in the Chicago/Wisconsin area called Kings Hill Farm (www.kingshillfarm.com). They have a Community Supported Agriculture program and are trying to increase the consumption and production of organic food in the Illinois/Wisconsin region. They have 1/2 bushel of food for $20 per week and 1 bushel for $30 per week. You have an option of them picking the food for you (at the prices stated) or you can pick what you want for an additional fee. I started off with a 1/2 a bushel. I will pick it up at a bookstore, which is one of their pick up sites, on Saturday. I will let everyone know what the 1/2 bushel consist of.

Thanks for the info. If anyone knows of any co ops with north suburban pick up locations, I would appreciate it. (I live in Deerfield) :)

Thanks,

Thank you. It's still a little far for me. Your post has inspired me to do more research.

Hi Solchile~

Did you end up getting the bushel? What did it consist of?

Hey dstar,

I got 1/2 a bushel. It was lots of lettuce, onions and kale. There was also zucchini, potatos, fuji apples, a pineapple and a young coconut. I don't know if I'm going to stick with this co-op as I am not a greens eater yet and that was the majority of the food. My classmate told me of another co-op (Timber Creek Farms) where you can choose all fruit. That sounds more to my liking. I'm going to look into it.
