My name is Cindy and I'm an addict- to anything sweet. Be it the refined kind or raw desserts, I can't seem to stop. I don't do well with agave, honey, dried fruits and I don't like the taste of stevia.......the few times I was able to go a few days without the stuff my energy soared!
Would anyone be interested in doing a 30 day "no sugar challange" with me? I could sure use the support. We could start Jan 1.

I'm actually already on a no sugar diet to treat candida, but I'll gladly continue till February =D. It takes an iron will to resist that sweet tooth, but it definately gets easier over time. Count me in!

I'm interested! Are you talkin' about fruits too? Or sweet fruits? Or just like raw desserts & sweeteners?

So happy to get responses here!!!!!
I would tend to say let's include fresh fruit only (no raisins, dates, sweeteners except stevia). I will begin January 1 so I can mentally prepare for it. Glad I am getting some support here, couldn't do it alone!

After a little thought.....I'm in! I just bought a big container of dates LOL (for my holiday unbaking) Can you freeze dates???? Or do I not need to if we're doin' this for a month?
I would suggest if I may to exclude stevia. If you're really wanting to get rid of sweet fruits/ dried fruits I would say sweetener would be a good thing to exclude b/c it's addicting. It's like 300-500x sweeter than actual sugar.....hence the addiction some people have to sweets & sweeteners.

My sugar all balanced out when I went raw over two years ago. I have all in moderation. I WAS in my previous eating before raw ADDICTED bigtime to sugar. My mom called me the candy kid.
I will support you in your endeavors. I will cheer from the bench! I have a bit of honey and no stevia (yuck for me).
Rah rah, go,, go..!!!!!!

Hey, glad to get a couple more on board! Excluding stevia is fine with me.
I blew it last night with apple pie and truffles at our dinner party and felt groggy and achy this morning. I seem to do fine most of the day but the evenings are the hardest. If only my family didn't bring it in the house....

I'm assuming these aren't raw desserts? Do you do okay with raw desserts? Or would it be hard to have those around your house also for binging sake?

I'm confused, you are or aren't including dry fruit?

i dont understand why anyone would want to not eat all the sweet fruits they care for? Alissa says to eat all the fruit you care for, dont count calories etc, just dig right in!
Worked for me. I found out that candida is NORMAL in a healthy body and its IMPOSSIBLE to get rid of unless we are dead! :)
so why the candida symptoms? well according to Dr Douglas Graham whom wrote the 80/10/10 diet, if we eat too much fat, it begins to coat the cells insulin receptor sites and then sugar cant enter the cell and blood sugar rises. the causes candida to bloom to gobble up the extra blood sugar and keep us safe. then we get a few symptoms from our body to let us know we are on the wrong track.
solution? keep your fat intake low and when it comes to sugar GO GO GO! :)
Actually it was Alissa i have to thank for this because i always felt guilty for eating fresh organic sweet fruits but Alissa just said i have to listen to my sweet cravings and keep my blood sugar stable and eat as much fruit as i cared for.
another raw girl i found inspiring is slim and trim freelee!
www.sweetjuicyfreelee.com this raw girl also knows how to chow down all the fruit in town!!!
LISTEN TO YOUR BODY! fruit is natural and its healthy!!

What my understanding is from this thread is Marin Mom gets addicted to sweeter fruits so she is wanting to kick start the year with a cleanse & stop that cycle.

Let me clarify. I'm looking to do a 30 day cleanse if you will of desserts, raw or otherwise. The only thing sweet for me will be fresh fruit. I will leave out all sweeteners and dried fruit as they are too concentrated for me. I count dried fruit as raisins, dates, dried figs, prunes, etc. It is hard for me to eat them in moderation so I will forgo them for a month and I thought it would be fun to do this with a few others.

count me in b/c this is what I've been doing since couple of years :) Dried fruit did always make me feel awful and didn't taste raw to me. Most of it is not raw anyways and I don't think we need that sticky stuff.

I'm in, IN, IN. :D:D:D
My New Year plan is simple. I'm going on a strict cleansing diet. After an initial weight loss of 50 lbs I haven't released any weight in the past year. I'm fed up! :p The transition plan of "eating anything I want to stay raw" is over. I want to say goodbye to another 50 pounds. I want the increased energy and clarity that comes from eating lighter. I'm cutting out raw desserts, dried fruits, nectars, and syrups. I'm also cutting out all but one fat a day. Focusing mainly on fresh fruits and greens for 30 days.
It begins Jan. 1, 2010. I'm starting to get excited!
