A real eye-opening video and article. Apparently an enzyme that helps burn fat is sturned off as soon as you sit down. I have about half of my office standing at work now after sending them this..lol. Luckily the desks in our cubicles can be raised. Enjoy and stand up!

I assume there have been no replies because as soon as anyone has read/watched that article, they immediately stand up and move away from the computer=)

Thanks for that!

Does the body know the difference between laying and standing? I wouldn't mind lying around the house all day :p

I am wondering if sitting on the balance ball with negate the effects somewhat.

What better prize could I get.
I think that you misuse the word tall if you use it in any description of me.

I don't find that to be true. I'm in a wheelchair and sitting almost all of the time. I work out with hand weights and I lose weight. I eat too many fatty things and don't move around much - I gain weight.

You use more muscles/energy while standing - so that may have something to do with it.

Perhaps your body has made the necessary adjustments to cope with this. We are very adaptable creatures.

To sit with spine straight takes a lot of muscle strength - abs and back. I find it much easier to be straight, when standing.

Have you seen those computer desks for treadmills? Here is one - TrekDesk (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002IYRBI0?ie=UTF8&tag=myhealthgoal-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B002IYRBI0)
Looks amazing and a great way to stay fit while online.

You can reverse this! TrekDesk in the above reply is an amazing idea..or you can get a pair of pedals from the drug store. They make them for those that can't really get around a lot... but you can get more "fancy" ones that allow you to set resistancy and pedal your way through the day. It takes time to reverse the effects noted in the video though. (http://images.allegrocentral.com/70/D7/8ab281020bb66dff010bb678d8560eb4-PRODUCT-BIG_IMAGE.jpg)

I wonder about sitting on your knees in an L shape... would that have the effects of standing? If not, I think I'll need to put my computer on a couple of phone books. I don't want a hunched back.
