Hi, everyone!
I am new to the forum and just discovered the site today. I need motivation throughout my raw food journey from people who have adopted the lifestyle. People that I talk to who don't understand the raw food lifestyle just can't relate, and I was very happy to know that a forum like this existed.
In the beginning of Oct-09 after reading The Raw Food Detox Diet (Natalia Rose), I made the decision to go raw. I emptied my cabinets and fridge of all the condiments and non-organic food. I put everything in a box and "donated" it to a relative who was more than willing to take the unhealthy food off my hands. This action forced me to go grocery shopping for all-organic, raw foods and produce.
The first Saturday of October, I bought a juicer and went shopping. I bought a canister of NuStevia from the local health food store, and I alternate that with agave nectar to sweeten my beverages. I also take a few tbsp of coconut oil daily. I drink green juice 4-5 days a week (more often if I wake up early enough to make it before going to work). My green juice is made up of 5 stalks of kale, 1 romaine heart, 2 fuji apples, and 2 tsp Sun is Shining superfood. I eat an organic spinach salad and a Lara bar for lunch, and have a veggie soup or something equally as light for dinner. I snack on Nori krinkles (Eden Foods). I also drink 84oz of filtered water daily.
I was a bit discouraged after losing only 5 lbs after a month of going totally raw. I am about 20 lbs overweight for my height (152 lbs, 5'2", age 37). Because I am in grad school, I don't workout like I should, but now that I am on winter break, I want to get back into the habit. I am occasionally tempted to stop by the fast food drive thru when I'm carrying cash after a long day at work. I work in an office, and weekend overtime presents opportunities to order out for breakfast and lunch. In my effort to not be a "party pooper", I deviated from the raw food on Thanksgiving. I will try hard not to overdo it on Christmas, but it's not easy.
Sorry so long; I just wanted to give you all an idea of where I am in my journey. Thanks for your comments and encouragement!
