What's the difference nutritionally between "raw" nuts and standard unsalted nuts you buy at the supermarket?

If I were to buy a packet of mixed nuts from the supermarket - surely they would be healthy if there were unsalted?? Or am I wrong?

If I were to buy a packed of mixed nuts that were all still in their shells (the ones that you take home and crack open yourself) - would they be considered raw?

Thanks :)

Well I know raw nuts haven't been roasted, but my question is if raw nuts have enzymes that are lying dormant is there any difference if someone eats unsoaked raw nuts vs. roasted????????

If nuts are not certified as "RAW" then the chances are that there has been heat used to extract them from the shell and some of the enzymes may have been destroyed in the process.
Eating those nuts is still a lot better than eating roasted nuts as I would think that not all the enzymes have been destroyed.

So if in "RAW" nuts their are more enzymes can you even use any of them if they're not soaked?

I think we all worry too much about it. ;)

The best tasting nuts I buy are from a raw vegan store and are labeled raw, organic, and are FRESH. Also, the most expensive. I can't always afford them. In a pinch I buy nuts bulk from an organic grocer or packaged nuts that are labeled "raw" at Trader Joe's (including almonds from Spain). The nuts in bags at my neighborhood grocery store are almost always stale and not worthy.

I have no digestive issues with nuts, so I soak or not as it suits me.

If I eat a few nuts without enzymes I don't think it is an issue. After all, the rest of my food is LOADED with enzymes.
