Hello Mike and wife, and welcome to the forum!
You are definitely headed in the right direction for vibrant health and also natural weightloss and body reshaping.
To get started, I would suggest a few things.
One is, read lots of information on the raw diet. This can be done online.
Here are some sites:
www.alissacohen.com
www.thegardendiet.com
www.shazzie.com
www.fromsadtoraw.com
www.rawgosia.com
www.rawschool.com
www.rawfamily.com
Gathering information and knowing what the possibilities are for you, and why you are doing this is very valuable. Reading testimonials is inspirational and serves you in that it shows you firsthand experiences and what is possible for you.
Secondly, I would suggest ordering Alissa's book " Living on Live Food" found at www.alissacohen.com
Her book explains everything from why to how, including her story and many other peoples experiences, a how to guide, 300 recipes, a menu plan and shopping guide...it covers everything.
Also, reading peoples journals ( found in the 30 Day Challenge Gallery) on this site is very helpful, as you can see what they experience.
And dont forget to browse this forum. Using the search button up top, type in anything you want to know about raw and you should find something. Many questions answered there.
And we are also happy to answer questions that arise for you as you gather information.
One other point, is that while you can be inspired by someone elses words and experiences, you cant really be convinced. Only your very own experience can convince you. So once you know what a raw diet is and what it can do for you, try it. Alissa suggests trying it for 30 days, and we have the 30 Day Challenge Gallery here to support that. Ican tell you, my first 30 days of raw, living food changed my life forever!
This can do so much for you, truly. But you will only know and realize that when you feel it for yourself. And 30 days is such a small period of time out of your life. You have nothing to lose but weight and illness and everything to gain, from vibrant health, energy, healing, mental clarity, inner joy etc...
Do let us know if you join in because we will delight in giving you tons of support on your path.
My very best wishes to you and your wife.
Blessings~

Welcome Mike. I can only speak for myself, but after all I've read, the people's stories, Alissa's book and DVD (although I didn't wait for the book to get to my home before I started) etc...I had to try it for myself, because I wasn't feeling well at all. After only 8 days, it just feels right for me. I had back pain for the last 15 years, and it's seemed to disapear since last Sunday. That's something of a miracle. That's just one very cool thing that's happened to me. I can list 7 or 8 more things like that as well. Only 8 days. Wow. I wish you well in your decision making process. Sounds like you're on the right track coming to this group.
BTW, the way I started? I just went to the grocery store and bought a bunch of fruits and veggies, and that's all I've eaten since. That's it with really no instruction. I've also eat till I'm satisfied, not stuffed as I know if I was starving this thing wouldn't work.
