I don't much see the hype in plain almond milk. That's why jesus made sweeteners.

I find almond milk to be foul - even with the truly raw almonds.
Cashew milk is really good and you don't need sweeteners, because the nut is already sweet.
Though, cashews usually aren't raw, unless you're getting them from a place that hand peels them.(stores do not carry these) and eating a lot of cashews/cashew products isn't very good for you.
They naturally have a poison oak type skin around the nut (or is it irritating hairs?) So, naturally they aren't supposed to be eaten in bulk - imagine how itchy you'd get from trying to unpeel all those nuts. :)
So, even though it's really yummy - don't drink it all the time. It's not an every day nut, like almonds and walnuts :D
Have you tried sesame milk?
If you like the taste of sesame seeds, it's good with some vanilla and sweetener.

I like almond milk sweetened with dates and vanilla bean. I've never tried straight cashew milk.

Brazil nut milk is my favorite. It's so creamy and nice, and just like cashew it is quite neutral tasting.
I am sort of addicted to hemp milk though. But I think it has to do with the nutrient content rather than the taste, because it still doesn't taste that good to me, yet I love it.
One thing that i find improves the nut milks dramatically in flavor is to add a pinch of salt to it. It adds a nice depth to the taste.

Very difficult to strain cashew milk I've found. How do y'all drink it? do you strain it, or just add a lot of water without straining.

The few times I've made it I didn't strain it. But I started out with just a little water to make it into a thick cream then added more water. It gets a lot smoother that way.

I don't strain it. That's what makes it so convenient. Just blend and use. If your blender isn't one of the high powered types, you might have actual grit, in which case you might want to strain it.
If it is put in the fridge you notice that it separates, but so do other nut milks. Just stir or shake.
I used to make a cashew/almond milk for my children when they were young. That I strained because of the almonds. I had even popped the brown peel off the almonds first. That could be the difference. The brown skin makes it taste much stronger. I also found the mixture of the 2 kinds of nuts to be a real good one. They blended well together.
Have you tried milk made with pine nuts? I have Googled non-dairy milks and couldn't believe what came up. Amazing how many things can be made into milks, even things like oats. Can't imagine that, but I might try it sometime just to see.

I've had oat milk before, it's kind of like the cream you get when you make oatmeal. It doesn't have much flavor, just a tiny hint of *oat*. But it is very hardy and I personally love it.

I would think that the oat milk like that would be slimy, no? Or would that only happen if it was cooked?
