Well ya know I work at a health food store and I make kelp capsules, and all it is, is putting the kelp powder... inside capsules... so there ya go, not much a difference there, atleast in my situation.

Well I do work at a healthfood store, I prefer the term organic store, we have a whole load of incredibly priced organic produce (DopeRaw is 2 people I'm the one that works at a organic store don't get it twisted)... I make kelp capsules, I put kelp powder into capsules and viola... the only "supplement" me and my bro take is Spirulina tablets... and ya know alcohol and I feel good as eva.

I like the powder route because it is hard to swallow enough caps to equal a heaping Tablespoon (or more) of green food powders.

In my raw world green powders like Vitamineral Green, spirulina, chlorella, wheat grass, and kelp are real food. I use a heaping Tablespoon of VG and a teaspoon of all the rest to enhance, mineralize and supplement all my green smoothies. Maybe it is an acquired taste, or maybe it is finding the right green powders. Since going "supergreen" I find simple smoothies of fruit/greens don't taste green enough and don't satisfy me.

Prior to finding Vitamineral Green I tried some funky tasting green grass powders, especially those flavored with chocolate and/or berries. Yuck! I'll take my green powders without extra flavorings. :p Seriously, I say Vitamineral Green is the best tasting. Spirulina comes in second.

VG (or any similiar Jameth Sheridan formula) claims to provide 150%RDA of iron, 33%RDA calcium and 4.4 Grams of protein per heaping Tablespoon, in addition to many other nutrients, probiotics, etc.

I supplement with 300mg calcium citrate/150mg magnesium oxide, and Host Defense mushrooms which both come in caps that I empty into my green smoothies, also 5 drops (2,000mg) of liquid Vit D3 from cholecalciferol (combed from sheeps wool), Jarrow's Methyl B-12, 800mcg folic acid, and finally 2.25g Vit C (ascorbic acid). All these supplements are part of the 2 month program "prescribed" by a Registered Herbalist/Aromatherapist that I sought help from. I will probably continue to take these supplements even after I'm done with the herbal/essential oil part of the program.

Hi RK!
In my smoothies i put several fruits, and a A green. have you ever tried tomatoes, carrots, heck squash? anything? just curious. my smoothies are now including flax seeds due to my cholesterol being in the sucks zone. and im think i will go green powder and pump that in to.

I do a couple fruits and a green, too. No, I haven't tried carrots in a smoothie, though I have tried one with carrot juice instead of water. Super Rich and Sweet! Once in a great while I go for a savory smoothie with tomato instead of fruit. I put a clove of garlic in a tomato smoothie once. Woo-Hoo. That was strong! Isn't garlic supposed to be good for lowering cholesterol or is that just for lowering blood pressure? Squash and flax I only like in crackers. Then again, I've never tried them in a smoothie...

Gotta keep those creative juices flowing to keep it interesting. I've made a few nasty smoothies in the process. Always manage to salvage them, usually by adding more VG and dates. :)

Good luck with the cholesterol. I bet smoothies will make a big difference. :)

how do you feel about coq10?

I have read in several places that COQ10 is very important as we age because our bodies just don't produce enough of it after 40 ish. I started taking it and got somewhat constipated so I stopped. Did you have the same problem? I keep thinking I should try again, that maybe it was something else...but I HATE being constipasted!! LOL:o
