Hi everyone.
I think i got to this site accidentally on purpose.
I'm about to turn 25 next week and I really feel much older.
I actually had a doctors appointment last week that I cancelled.
There is no other way to say it but at 25 I'm complaining of symptoms that normally come out of the mouths of people much older! I'm so tired all the time. My body aches. My skin is lifeless and so dull. I get fatigued very easily and am so irritable all the time.
In my pharmacology class, the instructor basically told us that taking medications is not healthy and quite frankly the downfall of most people. Taking one pill will ultimately lead to another or cause symptoms that will be treated by another medication and so on.
Because of his lectures I started researching ways I could alleviate my health by taking supplements. I started taking multiple B vitamins for fatigue but it increased my appetite. I gained 5 lbs over a month from overeating. Then I started taking 5-HTP and chromium picolinate to suppress my appetite. Using this cocktail I started to feel better after a week.
Then the fatigue started to come back. I was so tired of always feeling so tired.
I came across this site somehow, I dont quite remember how, and so far I've taken everything i've read to heart.
In the past 6 days I've incorporated more vegetables and fruits into my diet and almost immediately i've started feeling better. I even forgot to take my vitamin cocktail for two of those days and it didn't cause me to get fatigued at all whereas previously missing my daily vitamins would take its toll within a day or two. My boyfriend has told me that I'm less irritable and when I recommended going out to a restaurant he immediately said no and bought me a salad. hahahah poor guy hes really enjoying my improved persona. Today is my 6th day and although I've been eating a few cooked foods here and there I really don't crave them and prefer eating a piece of fruit or smoothie instead. I haven't really noticed a detox effect although I did get a pimple on my face when I haven't had one in years and I did notice my appetite decrease and no longer feel like i'm starving and must eat all the time.
I have noticed some weight loss from the last few days and its amazing because it almost feels like its melting off of me from the inside out. I noticed that I dont have feelings of being depressed anymore and I'm less tired. I haven't gone 100% on raw food but with each meal its about 80-100%. Hopefully in the next few days I can make it to 100% but I'm worried about developing cravings for cooked foods if I do.
For now I'm satisfied with how I feel and how I'm improving. I promised myself that if I feel a strong improvement by the 1st I would do my best to continue this way of eating. However, with the way I am feeling after barely a week I can tell I'm going to be eating this way for a while.

Welcome.
What I think you should do is decide to do the 30 day challenge.
Promise yourself that for 30 days you will not eat anything cooked. It is not a life sentence and is easily achieved as you can look forward to eating something cooked after the 30 days.
The chances are that after 30 days you will have got rid of the cooked food addiction and will not want to have anything.

Wow AnnaB, sounds like we have a lot in common! I'm also new to raw, and am just flourishing under it. Like yourself I am mid twenties (26) and addressing a range of major and minor (depending on who you are and your take on life) health issues. I wish you all the best for this, sounds like you know what's working for you, I wish you the strength to stick to your guns and experience some real long positive change. Am inspired to post my own "who are you" now. All the best,
Ariana
