View Full Version : Will raw counter-act this?
My birth control choice has a side effect in some girls of pretty serious weight gain (up to 45 lbs). I haven't been using it long enough to know whether I'll gain but do you think my raw food diet will counter act the weight gain that the hormones cause and allow my weight to remain stable?
Thanks :D
PS. Please no suggestions about non-hormonal birth controls, I've heard it all before :)

It's unlikely anyone here is going to be able to give you an answer that's scientifically solid on this without more information, such as:
are you 100% RAW?
what does your diet consist of?
what type of birth control are we discussing?
how old are you?
what is your current weight/state of health?
do you exercise?
etc., etc.
Even then, it's unlikely we can TELL you what YOUR body will do. Only you will know that....
When I was 21, I tried hormonal birth control and it wreaked havoc on me so I haven't gone back...

45lbs is a lot of weight. I am a little shocked that it can achieve that.

my guess would be no, it won't counteract. If your hormones are going to flux and cause weight gain, your body will gain weight regardless of what you eat. Maybe you gain 20 instead of 45 being raw - is that better??

I don't know. The whole purpose of eating raw is to heal & to bring balance to your body including your hormones so if you are giving it something artificial then I would say that your body would probably gain no matter what.

I was always led to believe that weight gain as a side effect meant you should change pill? Or are you not on the pill? Because I heard the injection is the worst for weight gain, well I have seen I guess.. But anyway, I would think your body might even reject it if raw, but maybe that's just extreme. I really haven't a breeze, I am just interested in what you're saying.
are you 100% RAW?
Not at present, I'm maybe 25% raw now, but am planning to up this to about 80% asap.
what does your diet consist of?
At the moment I eat a lot of rice and a lot of salad. In fact in the past week this is pretty much all I've eaten due to money problems meaning I can't buy a lot of stuff.
what type of birth control are we discussing?
Implanon, progestrogen-based contraceptive implant.
how old are you?
18
what is your current weight/state of health?
Current weight is about 140lbs, I have a body fat percentage of about 36% and I have anemia. So I'm not too healthy at present! :(
do you exercise?
No, not right at this moment. But when I do, I usually exercise 2-3 hours a day - usually brisk walking, maybe 20 minutes of running, and the rest will be spot exercises like sit ups.
I know I'm unhealthy right now, but I am honestly working on it!
