I am starting the 30 day challenge on Sunday. I wanted to make sure I have food on hand because I am a snack fanatic. In my dehydrator right now I have Baby's chips from the book. Corn chip, and flax seed crackers. My question is are the flaxseeds supposed to remain whole?
Thanks

CJ, you can do EITHER.
Soak until thoroughly bloated ( upwards of 4 hours + ) and then add into a recipe either by folding in - or food processing.
or
Grind the flax seeds into a powder and add into a recipe - adjusting the water content to make sure the mixture is not too wet, but not too dry.
Don't be afraid to adjust the recipe to your liking as far as taste.
Alissa said on her DVD's that she grinds her's to a powder because that's what she prefers.. and it makes the crackers more thin and crunchy.
I've yet to grind - that will be my next task once my K-tec cup comes back from the manufacturer.

Hey Renee, I tried something new last night with my flax crackers and my k-tec. I wanted my seeds soaked and I also wanted them ground -- hard to have the best of both worlds. Anyway, I soaked them all day, then put them in the k-tec. I had to keep adding water and do a lot of pulsing, but they finally ground (mostly). Then I added to receipe. I am happy with the results.

May I ask what a k-tec is?

a K-tec is a high speed, very powerful blender, much like a Vita Mix, but it goes on it's own, you turn it on and it just goes, the Vita Mix you have manual controls with.
The k-tec has a smaller container, but is easier to clean
The Vita Mix is taller and won't fit under most cabinets, where the K-tec will
I have a Vita Mix, and I love it, use it almost every day, but I only have 2 overhead cabinets, so It's no big deal to me.

I purchased mine a few years ago- long before I ever understood today's 100 percent raw . It mills grains, it heats up foods ( so be careful ) to make hot soup, empty cup - and make ice cream 4 minutes later. It's cool. It's expensive, but .. the warranty is worth it.
They also have a processing station - $299.00 recently
