Which raw protien powder do y'all recommend? I feel like I need a boost of protein in my green smoothies.

I prefer getting it from whole foods if possible.

Thanks so much,
Jeff

In powder form, Sun Warrior. I also love hemp butter. Whole Foods likely won't carry them though, plus they overcharge. The internet is where you can find the best deals. You may find a raw hemp powder, but I personally don't like it.

If you want it from whole foods, then add whole foods to your smoothies ~ i.e. greens and a variety of them. Powders are not whole. They may have COME from whole foods, but they're not whole foods after having the fluid (and many of the nutrients) removed. Personally, I don't add powders to my smoozies.

I second Revvell. If you want more protein, use more greens + drink more Smoothies everyday.

Why settle for second-best (a derived form of the original plant) especially when powders are generally CRAZY EXPENSIVE??

the hemp ive never tried because too expensive

but seeds with good protein i like are :

pumpkin : besides protien high in iron - plus zinc which is good for men

sun flower : besides protein high in vitamin e

flax : decent protein plus the heart food omegas

sesame : decent protein plus very good calcium

these are all affordable and easily found in my area .
sprinkle the pumkins on salads whole / use the suns in
trail mixes / grind whole flax seed in blender then use
in smoothies or sprinkle on salad / grind sesame in blender
to use in sweet fruit smoothies , or sprinkle whole on salads

also chop up walnuts to sprinkle on salads

and can make almond milk to which add sweet fruits like bananas ,
then add carob powder or cacoa for good milk shake like smoothie

Hemp seeds (many essential amino acid, omega 3, 6 and you name it)
A simple apple or even tomato, contain all the essentials amino acid.

Have fun and keep trying different kind of food until you figure out what your body like

I use organic hemp protein and spirulina in my smoothies. It works for me and I don't mind the taste.

I add the following to my protein shake that I have after my workouts:

chia seeds - 4 grams per ounce
walnuts - 9 grams per 1/2 cup
hemp seeds - 11 grams per 2 tablespoons
brewers yeast - 16 grams per 2 tablespoons
flax seeds - 1 gram per tablespoon

I don't add greens, just the above ingredients plus filtered water.

Hello Jeff,

If you feel you need a boost of protein and you want whole foods there is spirulina. Most sources I've read agree to 2 tablespoons per day. I don't use that much since I prefer raw hemp protein..not a whole food but raw and very effective..contains a very easy to assimilate protein called edistein. As an added plus, Udo, one of the top experts on fats, wrote that hemp oil could be your only source of fats.. its that good. As a whole food, it is hemp seeds.

You could soak almonds overnight for eating the next day...one of the best foods there is.

Best,

Vitamineral Mineral Green. Not really a protein powder, but it has 4.4 grams in a heaping Tablespoon. I add a big spoonful to all my green smoothies.

Don't care for hemp protein powder, it is not a complete food and is too dry and high in fiber for me. Hemp seeds are a complete food, a great source of fats, fiber, and protein. I don't put them in smoothies. I eat them on a salad or by the handful.
