I neeeed some more protien sources. My body isn't reacting favorably with alot of the well known ones, such as, hemp, chia, lentil sprouts, other sprouts, flax, sesame etc.
I know for a fact I feel less slugish and puffy when I consume more protien and less fruits/sugars but am having a hard time finding enough. Greens are tough to find good sources at this time of yr especially in this region, although i can find them.
I do ok with quinoa and nuts, but those feel too heavy to consume regularly.
Any thoughts/suggestions??
Maybe it's not protien I need but less heavy, sugary stuff? If I eat just veggies and friut I never feel satisfied and go towards heavy stuff, nuts etc. Just looking for what my body is needing.

David Wolfe says a lot of times people think they need protein due to hunger, they're really craving fats. Get on those avocados, young thai coconuts, cold pressed oils, etcetera and see how you feel. Personally, I'm on that "heavy" tip too, I don't remember the last time I had a salad and didn't envelope it in olive oil.

Now if it is protein you need, I hear talk of spirulina being a kingpin in that department.

Alissa Cohen has said that too ~ I'm thinking, right here on this forum.

Hmmm, that's interesting. I know I have no problem eating fats, well, maybe the self control department. :-)
But, if I cannot eat any of the foods I mentioned, how do i make sure I am getting enough protein? How does one really know?

I think that it is impossible to not get enough protein unless your calories are at starvation level.
I do not feel that it is one of the things that you should be worrying about. If you eat a good natural diet you will have more of it than you need.

One additional way to get proteins in your diet are to process the seeds in fruits before you eat them.

For Example: Watermelon seeds have more protein in them pound for pound than meat!!

Yeah, fats. Also, why protein? How do you know it's not other nutrients?

I always find it interesting how people just think "protein, protein, protein". You're use to eating much heavier foods so, at first you will crave the heaviness that you're missing. After awhile that craving will dwindle. Eat the fattier foods now ~ olives, avos, nuts and seeds ~ until your body doesn't want as much any more.

It's not that I am craving anything necassarily Revvel. It's that i am doing poorly and am searching for the missing link. My Dr, (who thinks raw is best!) actually thinks I would do better on some meat. I have severe adrenal insufficiency and hypothyroid. Have been raw for quite a while and it's not actually healing these problems. She says those with adrenal insufficiency need more protien, and if I don't want to eat meat then to add in lentils etc which I listed my body cannot tolerate. So I am searching and doing my best. I also have a family of 6 to cook for (since they are not raw) as well as homeschooling, so my time is extremely limited, and at a premium since I am exhausted much of the time. And I have multiple food allergies so uncooking is difficult to say the least. BTW, I do eat plenty of fats in the way of nuts, avo, cocnut, and oils, soemthing at each meal every day.
Sorry that I brought this back up.

chlorella and wheat grass juice help me when I start going down that path of bottomless pit hunger.

No worries. Check with uhhh, hmmm.. can never get her name right since I call her by her first name. Someone will help me out here. She healed her thyroid with smoothies and has a huge thread about it. Maybe do a banana search for "healed thyroid" or something of that nature?
