I "have" several food allergies. I have tasted peanut butter once in my life (Jiffy I think) when I was two and have a severe allergic reaction to it. That being said, I'm not allergic to peanuts. I can eat them in other foods with no problem. My pediatrician said that I was probably allergic to the oils used to process the nuts. So...does this mean raw peanut butter could be a go? I have no recollection of what peanut butter taste like and I hear it's awesome on bananas. Thoughts?

I have food allergies, too.

Just make some, and try a little bit, and see how it turns out.

when i eat something that i'm allergic to, i can usually tell if i try a little bit. i'll get symptoms of a reaction, but won't fully react, you knwo?

why not try a different nut? i get reactions to peanuts, too. not almonds or hemp which make yummy butters.

I became allergic/sensitive to peanuts a few years back. My understanding of some types of food sensitivities is that over time, after the antibodies in our blood that cause the reactions dissipate or break down, we should then be able to consume the offending foods again. Provided the issue that caused the sensitivity in the first place is overcome, as in a case of leaky gut being healed up. I guess this applies to sensitivities, but I am not sure about true allergies. So, maybe you were as a toddler, but are no longer sensitive to peanuts.
I use sunflower seed and almond butters. I think cashew and hazelnut butter is also available.

I got raw peanuts from a farmers market like, earlier this year, and it caused a terrible pain in my gut. I heard theres some'n like aflatoxins or some shreds that are toxic, and contained within peanuts. Maybe thats why my belly threw a hissy?

You're right. I won't know until I try. I LOVE almonds and as it is I have difficulty just eating one or two. I feel like if I made and almond butter I would just be slapping it on everything. :o

Hmmm, this is something to look into. Again, I was two but my pediatrician told my mother that I probably wouldn't "grow out" of my allergy. That being said, he couldn't explain how I could be allergic to peanut butter and not to peanuts so...I might just give some raw peanut butter a try.

Really? Were the peanuts good...as in good condition? I hear they can go bad really easily if not properly stored. Hmmm...

Raw peanuts are very rare and are imported so you won't be able to find them just anywhere. Hemp butter is a bit less addictive than almond. Though for me now, not as much. :p
