I already wrote a blog about my first 30 days. I've gotten great results so far and am looking forward to spending more time around here learning new things. I picked up a vitamix early on and have just recently added a spiralizer to my kitchen arsenal which I used to make my first plate of raw spaghetti with a marinara sauce which was awesome if I do say so myself. I am the first in my group of carnivorous friends and family to do this and it has not been so bad so far. They mainly cannot understand the no cooking part. I only talk about this if they are genuinely interested and I try to answer their queries as best as my novice level can explain. I have not had too much trouble though from the family and friends since they are all pretty cool except for the sad diets they maintain. Anyone and everyone will come around if they become informed enough and want to change since this diet and lifestyle is too positive to deny. I'm not going to force it on anyone though and have a pretty good idea who might even come around to this first. Anyway hello anyone out there that might read this. I'm in Portland, OR and am a merchant mariner who work on ocean going tugboats. I'm a fairly simple guy who is a little too fanatical about collecting records and going to see live music shows around town.

Our stories are similar. I haven't been around a real long time either (90 days)and can't deny the results I have had. I find it a really cool when people ask me what I have done. It is really amazing how this evolves into so much more than a carrot stick diet as some view it. I so agree with "putting it out there on a blog". It really does reinforce ones accountability to themself. Your comfort level and outlook appear more advanced than your "novice" status would suggest. Keep it up!

I like live pasta quite a bit and have surprisingly enough really not had too many salads but that will change since there is a pretty good vegan deli here in p-town with a righteous salad bar. I just picked up the spiralizer and am looking forward to grinding up some other types of veggies. I am going to take a stab at my first pesto sauce soon. I have at least four different recipe books to work from which makes it difficult to decide which to use.

I'm pretty motivated to stay raw since I've been that way for this short time with so many benefits and the next step for me is to find some new kinda work that is involved with this lifestyle since working out to sea on a tugboat really is not too conducive to maintaining my diet the way that would benefit me the most, not to mention the sort of ilk I'm placed with from time to time. I really am not too happy when I'm at work and think this might be a way to more on if only I can find something I could do that could possibly have a comparable wage and benefits. I think so often people, myself included, find themselves feeling trapped in a bad career only for the wage and benefits even if the environment isn't the most optimal for a fulfilling life. I need to sort this out and I will but for now it is just something I will have to deal with until I figure out what the next move ought to be. I'll get there. Thanks for the kind words folks.
Cheers.

It's amazing how you don't desire any of the "heavy" foods even half as much only after a short time of staying away from them. I've heard going back isn't a pleasant experience from a few. I don't think I'm gonna try and find out. LOL
