I have never made anything using flax seeds before, and just put some in water to soak. ANy ideas? I dont have a dehydrator though -are they gross and slimey for all other purposes? Or, could I make them into bars or something?

If you soaked them - put them in smoother- they may blend well.

hey thanks, yeah i did soak em, about a cup worth. They dont really seem slimey though (ive read here about that). Maybe not enough water?

They seem very alive though, its exciting!

Already had my morning smoothie, but i am going to put 'em in the ceral recipe that was recently posted here -making it this morning.

Plucked,

Last night, I did a lot of jumping around on the Internet looking options for you ( and me ) for flax seeds. When I was finished, I lost it.. poof! I was hoping someone else would tell you some things.

This is what I found out:

wow! Thanks renee for all the links! You're quite the researcher - i love it!

I ended up making a kind of bar with the soaked seeds, and some unsoaked ones blended to a flour with some nuts, 3 tbs of flax oil, 3 tbsp lemon juice, 1 banana and 1/4 soaked prunes pureed in the processor, some honey, and a dash of sea salt.

stuck 'em in the fridge in little bar shapes! so tasty. definatley not a low fat treat though!

your welcome renee! glad to share.

I have been doing all my soaking in the fridge. So far I haven't tried anything that would sprout, but Im curious if that would inhibit their growth? ANybody have an opinion on that?

How about flax seed crackers?
I whipped some last night and they will be done late this afternoon or this evening!
My ds loves them and can't wait for them to be done!
