Fresh Wheat Grass...juice yield

I was interested to see how many ounces of juice I get from fresh wheat grass through an Omega 8003/8005 juicer.

1 lb (16 ounces) of refrigerated fresh wheat grass yielded ~13 ounces of juice.

I got 12 ounces of juice, then ran the pulp through for about another ounce.

(I cannot say for sure that the bag of fresh wheat grass was exactly a pound...but it was sold as a 1 pound bag.)

Not bad in my opinion.

That is so neat - I've never seen a bag of wheatgrass for sale! But, we live in (sort of) the boonies... I've seen the potted WG for sale though.

Just curious (okay - nosy!), what do they charge for a bag of WG? *Ü*

Never seen cut for sale only blocks. Like 4 in by 4 in in my HFS. For about five bucks it makes a quarter of a shot..haha

L.A. Fitness (I am not a member) has a juice bar where they sell wheatgrass shots and will sell wheatgrass by the pound. Green Pastures is their supplier.

The wheatgrass is harvested and bagged on Tuesday.
LA Fitness gets their shipments every Tuesday.
I pickup my wheatgrass on Tuesday - same day it was picked!

I pay $12 for a pound, no shipping (LA Fitness is about 5 minutes from me)
Cheaper than buying it from the supplier (and pay shipping) / short drive for me to pick it up / no need for me to grow it on my own as I cannot get any fresher or as good quality as this.
Comes out to ~$1 per 1 ounce shot...good enough for me
