Today is my first day of eating. (I did the Master Cleanse for 10 days). I went to the grocery store & was amazed @ how greens appealed so much more to me than they did prior to my fast! LETTUCE looked divine. Everything looked delicious x100!!!!!

I also looked @ food as such a temporary fullfillment. It isn't as necessary as I think it is. I don't have to eat as much as I thought!

I just thought it was interesting how everything changes after a fast/cleanse.

When I come off the liver cleanse, same thing. I feel light and airy and want lotsa green stuff, nothing heavy. I love the crisp light feeling. It is incredible.

i swear i do fasts sometimes just because i love how good the post fast meals look and taste

and i couldnt care less about the concept that when you end a fast you add food back in slowly  omg i couldnt laugh harder

soon as i end fast its GIGANTIC SALAD  avacado / bananas / walnuts / oranges / brocoli  i have the most giant feast i can engulf

though i admit ideally one would strive to eat the perfect amount without over loading guts and thusly not do the big feasts . oh thats probably why they say coming off the fast right is important :D

but im on day 4 of a fast currently and dreaming of " THE BIG SALAD "

KatieP, you describe a very positive transition which is hard for many. That is one of the most effective reinforcements of a fast, is the post fasting phase.

The harmony between the mind and body when welcoming food back into our daily routine is just as much part of the fasting itself. We can honor it or blindly lose sight of the whole experience and lose control. It is a rather emotional transition and it requires much awareness and use of our senses just as you described. I applaud you on such a beautiful experience.

To the beloved & legendary Michigan Roman:

Just watching your back a little here..
(uhhh, more like you could watch mine
and I'm fortunate to have a
big dude in my corner :D)...

You see, this could be poor advise to the commoners.
Commoners are frail mortals, Unlike you -
the rugged, strident Roman Eagle god,
with a constitution of iron,
appointed guardian
of the earth.

Such as these must break their fasts gently.

Once I even heard of a friend who had to be rushed to the hospital for serious medical attn, even the surgical kind, after breaking a long water fast. He ate a lot. And it wasn't fruit & veggies.

Extended fasts especially should be broken gently.
But, again, this is a rule only for commoners.
And it is for their sakes that we want to be careful..

My life after a fast..
Is yearning for the next fast. :p

But I know what you mean.
And you raise some excellent points!
Thank you. :)

EXACTLY!!!!!!!!! It's funny how I find myself not only eating lighter foods & less of them, but I also eat alot slower. There is definetly a mind body connection!

....and I love KNOWING what my body wants. Listening.shhhhh I hear it.
I went to our local cafe the morning off a liver cleanse. It was past noon and all the yummy offerings were there.

I waited until it felt right to eat. My friends offered me a nice veggie burger with avo and tomato on onion bread..(ugh,made me feel sick to think of it) I ordered a smoothie. It was glorious!! It was the perfect food at the time. It tasted incredible. note: I get down there only once in a great while....aww and I forgot to take out!

The body has rested from food. Breaking a fast sensibly would be asking your body to slowly ease back into its job without inundating with a ton of hard work to do pronto.

Anyone know the monday morning(after a weekend on the beach) desk with 100 messages and 2,000 emails, the boss calling you in, the secretary crying because her aunt died, the wife texting saying she cant take it anymore AND you have the flu, feeling?

Imagine your body seeing all this food immediately coming down the pipe after rest and recoup.

After an 8 day master cleanse having an embarrassingly hard time not gorging myself (and failing a little)... :(
I just want the taste of everything!! I have no willpower of resistance for things unless in my mind I can NEVER have them (i.e cooked, or while on a cleanse food in general, you know...)

Don't be embarassed :) Each moment is a new moment that you can create to be awesome! Think of it as not depriving your body of SAD food, but as treating your body with respect to give it foods that will enliven it!

I have to say that after I finished my master cleanse last sunday I have eaten much lighter & have really listened to my body for the food it wants & the amount it wants. I'm lovin' it! I feel lighter & I think I've actually lost more weight after being off the cleanse....TOTALLY inspiring! I knew it would help :) My body was screaming @ me that I was toxic & needed a break!

I also did a 9 day fast a few weeks back and I am STILL feeling that post fast high - I am REALLY REALLY drawn in a big way to certain vegetables right now - I can not get enough Zucchini and greens and I found that so weird - this is the first I have read of this post fast feeling - but ya, I totally know what you mean now!!!!!

As I type I'm eating a nice big greens salad with yummy sprouts!!! My body isn't craving cacao or honey or anything like that or nuts like it was before. It's craving greens/ SOME fruits/ avacodoes & olive oil for my salads! I bought nuts to make Christmas cookies & I had ONE cashew from the bag & it didn't even taste good to me! CRAZINESS :)

It's been about 3wks since I've finished the Master Cleanse & not only are my taste buds a little different but I have gained self control! I'm LOVING it! I was having a hard time with stopping eating in the later evening & was eating heavier things @ night. Now I have truley embraced hunger & like it. Before I looked @ it like "I have to eat b/c I'm hungry" now I look @ it more like a detox & cleanse for my body while I sleep :)
