Hi Everyone! I am new to the RAW scene! About 2 weeks in! I started eating raw to help repair my body and mind from burn out! I am in the middle of getting ready to move across the country and also I am a mother of 2 teen boys and a business owner. Does anyone have any advice on how to deal with burn out? I have suffered a bad bout this time and also had a bad bout of vertigo.I know rest will help but until I am able to do that can anyone give me a bit of advice? I have never suffered burn out this bad before, I have been working about 72 hour work weeks and trying to balance things at home....WOOPS
Blessings

Oceangirl,

First, congratulations on 2 weeks raw,, that is wonderful and just the thing that your body needs to start healing :)

Wow, you have alot on your plate right now!!! Hope your cross country trip goes smoothly and you start feeling better soon. HOw are you going to drive with vertigo???

I know you will get lots of wonderful advice here on this site. My first thought is that whenever I am not feeling up to parr,,, I juice. Carrots with an apple or some spinach. I always use organic carrots for maximun nutrition. This always helps with my energy level.

So that's my advice, juicing and drinking lots of water and try to get some more rest. I think we underestimate how much resting helps our bodies heal while we are going through detox especially if we are already having health issues.,, Try to get some rest!!! I know it is not easy with running a business/children/moving..but it may really help you out in the long run..

Best of luck to you!!
Jamie

Hi Jamie! Thank you so much for your advice and well wishes! As for the vertigo thing..it has subsided somewhat but in any event my husband will be doing the driving and I will be doing some resting :D and reading. Juicing is a bit difficult for me as I tend not to spend that amount of time or energy on myself, however, in my store we sell products from Hallelujah Acres and I have purchased the Barley Max and Carrot Powder which I just started using. It of course is not premium to juicing organic but they are very high quality products that contain 100% organic, I am hoping that it will help. As for the water thing thanks for the reminder I need a kick every so ofetn as far as that goes! Rest is certainly a healer, I agree! Hoping to get lots of it.
Again thanks!

Oceangirl,

You are moving in the right direction - and the barley max and carrot max with help increase the quality of life. Raw will provide life to you as well.

Now ( I hope I do not sound like your mom :D ) Burnout, creative or otherwise, is a common problem, especially for those who work hard and function at a high level. You simply can’t keep working without resting. Burnout happens for a reason.

Use your cross country trip as a way to take some time off. I feel the best way to recover from burnout is to take as much time off as possible. Sure there are times when you’ll not be able to take an extended vacation (although I can safely say those are needed from time to time) but you should at least give yourself a few days away from anything work related. Relax a bit! You’ll usually know when it’s time to get back to it.

Get some sleep. Often when I’m feeling burnt-out all I’ll need is a few really good nights sleep to get my energy and creative juices flowing again.

Play. Exercise and laughter are great ways to deal with stress and they’ll help get your mind back to a place where it can be productive and creative again.

Eat. Food, especially really quality good food, the kind that makes you feel a live can help put your mind in a good place.

Work on something new or different like planning your new home. If you have to work, try getting away from what you’ve been working on recently. Try working on a pet project or something new. Sometimes just breaking your routine will get you out of a burnout induced rut.

Work on something you love. Take a break from “not fun” work, to work on “fun” work.

I know as a mom., wife and business owner, as I am you are reluctant to take time, and may even have some guilt behind it, but it is better for them if you do than naught. I started with just 1 hour years ago, of quite, solitude and it was a strengthening time for me, now I am up to days at a time -and it is wonderful. I had to practice, but all is well.

Wow! Thanks Sweetlips! Words as sweet as honey! I didn't realize what I have done to myself! Truly not much left to give to anyone else at this point. I honestly felt what you had said and a tear fell, especailly about the guilt thing because that is sadly a fact. I am going to take your advice on the work thing though and fortunatly I will be able to cut my hours back still remaining a business owner but I was hoping that the Barley Max and Carrot Powder would improve things as well but you are right there is nothing better than REST! Thank you and no, you didn't sound like my mom at all she thinks I am crazy for going RAW! Thanks again
Blessings and Smiles To You :)

Hi oceangirl. :) Glad to see you on the boards. As you can already tell, you get great advice here and there's not much I can add cuz it's all been well said.

Gearing up for a move, I'm so glad mine is behind me! I don't envy you at all. Yeah, do what was said and take the journey across Canada as a well needed rest. Put your feet up if you can and relax. :)

God's Peace.

Hey oceangirl! Welcome!

Listen, you have GOT to remember, that if mom is incapacitated...she is NO help to ANYONE. INCLUDING HERSELF! Start taking some time for YOU sweety. Prioritize, and take baby steps. Maybe Mondays you take a bubble bath. Tuesdays...give yourself a manicure. Pedicures on Wednesday...etc,etc..None of these things take much time, but the payoff is PHENOMENAL!!! :D

...sending love your way...can you FEEL it???
