hello all!
I would really like make the Mudslide pie from the Cafe Gratitude cookbook. However, it calls for 1/4 c + 2 tbsp of cacao butter. I've been to 2 of my local health food stores, and no one seems to have it. Any tips or suggestions? Can I substitute something else for it?
Thanks!

Are Artisana nut butters and other flavors available locally? Artisana's Cacao Bliss would be my first choice as a substitute, followed by Goji Bliss, or even Coconut butter. My concern is that cacao butter is more solid than any of those, but I think they would work okay.
I was looking at that recipe just last night. Thinking about making it for Christmas. Please let me know how it turns out. :)

Cacao butter is not actually a butter but an oil, so it would be best to substitute it with another oil that's also solid. The only one would be coconut oil. The main difference is that it tastes like coconut instead of chocolate and melts at a slightly lower temperature.
You may want to check the skin care section of your health food store, mine does have pure cacao butter sold as a skin cream and the container specifically says it is food grade and safe to eat. It may not be raw though.

It may not be true to the recipe but Coconut Oil is sure to yield a delicious result.

rnGood morning, Eva Thanks.
rn
rnHow melted does the cacao butter need to be for recipes? Warm and soft how I used it last night, or liquidy like oil? Actually, same question for melted coconut butter... O-so-many-questions......
