I'm really confused...I thought Ezekial Bread was raw. It is in the freezer at the Co-op, the entire point of it is to be made from sprouted grains with living enzymes and no flour. So, I did a search here and the two posts I got that mentioned it state that it is not raw. I am confused. I realize that Sprouted Grain bread is much better than regular bread however I restarted eating 100% raw yeasterday but had one slice of sesame Ezekial Bread and then today had one slice at breakfast and then had a banana, raw honey and Ezekial bread sandwich for a late lunch. I will start over with the 30-Day challenge tomorrow but I am feeling frustrated that I thought I was eating all raw and was not. The only reason I even knew about Ezekial bread was from one of the raw websites I visited...otherwise I would not have even known it exists or that it would be located in the freezer section at the co-op. Any insight would be great.

I also must say that I did the 30-Day challenge in June but then in July, had a death in the family and was traveling, got depressed and just fell back into the SAD. I am ready to do this again and better than before, I have done more reading, realize that some of the foods I was eating before were, in fact, not raw...and am ready to embark on my new and healthy life...

Peace~Vanessa

All the Ezekiel breads I have ever seen (I read ingredients with a microscope ;) )contain yeast, which is a good indication that it is baked.

Even my favorite bread, Nature's Path Essene "Manna Bread" made with no yeast, ONLY sprouted grains and nothing else - is, unfortunately, baked, and is not raw. It seems the only way to get a bready, grain type thing without heating it, would be to get sprouted grains and either dehydrate it yourself, or sun bake it. I don't know how this would be done.

Welcome back Vanessa. It is sadly true. Ezekiel bread, sprouted grain though it may be, is baked. I have seen it listed in many raw plans as a transition food, but it is not raw.
If you have a dehydrator, you can make your own Essene bread though.

Here is a link to the recipe:

and here is a link to a thread on this forum about it:

It tastes just like manna bread.

Blessings~

Thanks ladies. I will have to try the Essene Bread (sp). I now have some corn chips dehydrating and am excited to have them with the HUGE AS$ batch of hot salsa  I made today! And I have some cookies dehydrating too. Once I have an empty dehydrator I will make some bread! I love onion, tomato, cukes, sprouts, avo, sandwiches...

Peace~Vanessa :-)
