Smiles everyone. 6 weeks 100% raw everything is going smoothly. I'm notice some changes,

Skin: can't quite put my finger on it just looks better.
Hair: doesn't get as oily as quickly.
Nails: are growing faster.
Weight: not really trying to lose, but did approx 5lbs.
eyes: easier to focus small print
no food reactions: untill today I woke up with hand dermatitis which I haven't had since I went raw.

In general I feel a lightness, happier.

What I am noticing and maybe I can get some feed back is that I am getting a increasing metallic taste after eating, bananas, dates. Don't like it at all, brushing teeth help but not much.

I am loving how I feel, I could not be happier.

How long does it take for your body to feel total effects This is sooo exciting. Yeah me!!!!!!!

some pine nuts can leave a metallic taste in the mouth for days after eating, never happened to me, but I read about it....

CONGRADULATIONS! Six weeks is something to brag about.

Metalic?? I too had that when I first when raw years ago -- nasty! I never could pin-point its cause. I know it was not pine nuts -- I had never heard of them and wouldn't of been able to afford them anyway. Finally I decided it was probably toxins exiting my body. It did eventually go away. Don't remember how long it took.

Blessings on staying raw now! (from one who is struggling to get back to 100%)

Hi Ann,

I am about 6 weeks raw too!!!
Dec 25 will be 8 weeks.

I too notice the positive things you have noticed.

My skin is smoother and younger looking, my energy is lighter, and I have lots of it!

I went through a rough emotional detox for 2 weeks and I have had bad gas this past week!!!
Today is the first day I have felt tired and under the weather.
This used to be an everyday occurence for me.

The positives far outways the negatives.

Here is to our next 6 weeks!!

smiles.... thank you all for the feed back. I think I may agree with BDraw the metallic taste coincides with a small break out on my face and the hand dermatitis I hand woke up with the other day. Silly me was thinking my body had probably already detoxed :)

I'm about the same amount of time in and my skin has been HAVOC all week... alot of it is the dust/fibers from helping a friend Move last week... some of it is that I'm eating too much Oil (and I know it, naughty me!)

And most of it is DETOX.

Hang in there - it does get better... oh, so much better. Which I remember from last year when I was RAW 6 months and felt.. fantastic! LOOKED fantastic. But simply wasn't listening to my body and getting the things I need to SUSTAIN that fabulousness.

This time I am and for the first time in 3 years of RAW off and on, I'm actually looking to a LONG-TERM FUTURE as a Raw Vegan.

This is exciting.... this is just BEYOND exciting.

I LOVE RAW!

I LOVE ALISSA!!! :D

6 weeks? That's awesome!!! Congratulations! I can't wait until the day that I can scream that from the mountain tops! :D *gives Free_I_am_FREE a hi five*

I'm not totally raw as of yet, but I'm pretty darn high...raw that is. :p My energy is great, I'm resting so much better than ever before ( I love waking up and FINALLY feeling rested), my skin is clearing up, it's just awesome. When I'm 100% I imagine I'll feel as though I'm literally flying! I can't wait!

Keep up the great living! :)

I hate to be a downer - but I feel totally off. Does anyone have some suggestions or a big "suck it up" if it's normal. I can do it - but I need an idea of how long this lasts....

I have been ovo-lacto vegetarian for 14 years and vegan (ish) for 1yr and now 100% raw for just over 2 weeks. I felt fantastic - seriously FANTASTIC - up until a few days ago. I feel like I'm at the tale end of a hangover. It's just generally rough to do anything. I'm not hungry at all, but know I have to eat something and nothing is appealing. I'm super burpy and gasy (which is totally not normal for me) and my stomach just feels sick. I never gone to the washroom this much, especially since I haven't ate very much in the last few days.

I had a massive cry last night, like up till 2 am sobbing -My husband is supportive but couldn't help but laugh at me, so just please humor me - about the loss of the lifetime of great food memories! It's ridiculous! I am a super athletic and stable person and I feel like I am turning into an emotional wreck! Logically I know this is silly but I feel off in every way.

I can handle it if I know what's going on. Am i being a baby? Is this normal? Anyone have anything to offer?

Murphner - No one here can tell you how long it lasts because each one of us detoxes differently... for me, I tend to detox in waves. I'm in the middle of a wave of it right now and I'm NOT feeling AS fantastic as I was a month ago... but trust us about one thing, at least: It WILL pass... tomorrow or in a week or in a month or whenever.... we can't say WHEN, just that it WILL pass!!!

I had a horrible chemical/metallic taste in my mouth for the first 2-3 weeks of going raw, also after eating. I think your mouth detoxes as well, that's all.

Congratulations Ann! 6 weeks is really something to be proud of!!!

Are there specific things to eat or drink that help?

Murphner, I remember when I went through that the first time... I ate a lot of celery to help, but for the life of me I cannot remember why. Might have just been something I read back then. Also lots of green smoothies.

Getting through detox is a good thing. I tried my best to think of it as positive, the junk is getting out! Like you, knowing what is was helped. Jinjee of the Garden Diet said the same- she thought she needed to go to the ER, as her detox was so bad, but as soon as she knew what it was, she dealt with it better.

It should also help us to not want to go back to our old ways as we'll undo the good, and have to re-do it!

I don't want to have to re-do it this time, but I know I must. The thought of going through detox again was one of the reasons I put it off so long.

But it's a very good thing to flush the junk out!

Actually yes I think so, drink a ton of water (I was drinking around 4 liters a day for the first few weeks). Watermelon juice with lemon is pure alkaline and very detoxifying, green juices and green smoothies as well.

Beyond that, it's more what you do, so exercise! Move, move, move and sweat. Think intense cardio, yoga, pilates, long walks, etc. Also, a steam bath or epsom salt soak will draw it out easier. Also, be kind to yourself when you feel really awful, lay in bed, sleep when you want as long as you want.
