I just had to post this , mainly because I am excited and amazed , but also I thought it might help someone else with the same problem, for the last 24 years, or maybe longer but that when I was diagnosed with Lupus, I have had severe psoriasis, so I have been itching for nigh on 20 years, its some times gotten a little better and sometimes worse, mostly depending on whether the Lupus is under contol at that time or not, but never has it gone completely, yesterday I suddenly realised I wasn't itching, I checked my elbow the bit that never heals up, and it was gone, I mean totaly gone, Im flabbergasted, Ive been doing this raw thing for a few months now and lots of things are better, but never did I expect this, its like a miracle to me after living with it for so long. wow!
I know the only reason Ive been able to keep up the raw diet is the fact that I can come here, read and get inspiration from you guys along with new recipes and things to make it all more interesting so thank you all, I dont contribute much, as I get nervous, plus I dont know a lot about it all yet, although Im learning fast, but I am always reading and taking notes and you have all helped me big time.
so from one very happy cactus, (kerri)thanks!!! :)

Kerri,
How marvelous!! You are a stupendous example of how eating living foods truly can transform your life. I know someone with psoriasis and it is horrible at worst and irritating/embarrssing at best. You must be thrilled that your body is healing. Maybe the Lupus is next!
Don't be nervous. You're been a wonderful addition to this forum.

thanks for your kind words, I was very sceptical at the start, I honestly didn't think something I'd had for so long would go away like that, but now it has I know it works, and IM soooooo converted, trouble is I want my friends to eat raw and yet better, some of them have complaints that I know will go away if they give it a try,one friend in particular, can see a complete change in me in a matter of months,(her words) yet she refuses to acknowlege it could be the raw diet, she says its because Im calmer so my body is healing, yet why am I calmer, I think its because of the diet, either way its frustrating, but since I don't want to be one of those people who becomes a pain in the neck cos they rabbit on and on about whatever it is theyve just converted to Im trying to not talk about it to much,
and Raw Truth, maybe your right, maybe the Lupus will be next, my doctor says its incurable and medication is the only long term answer, Ive always believed that, but now I'm wondering just what really is possible, after experiencing the changes in my body, and seeing things heal I have had half my life, I am really thinking anything is possible,

Great!!! - good for you! I used to have terrible psoraisis also - and it gradually disappeared!
the above quote reminds me of a saying I read - forgive me, I can't remember where... but it goes something like...
"today's doctors must become tomorrow's nutritionists, or today's nutritionists will become tomorrow's doctors"
- hope I got that right! :p

Outstanding , you Rawk!!!
What a blessing to be healed by food!!!!!!!!!!!
I have a question did you eat alot of grains? There was a thread talking about a book called Grain Damage that states that grains cause this condition.
Again Good for you & I hope your healed from your pain!!!!!!!!!!!!

how long were you raw before the itching skin cleared up?
Congratulations! Since you are eating raw, I imagine you have cut down quite dramatically on grains and saturated fat.
Have you added fresh ground flax seed to your diet? This is reputedly excellent for skin complaints (to say nothing of a whole host of other health applications).

WOW! That is amazing! I have dealt with psoriasis since high school. It has improved some but not completely gone yet. How many months did it take? And what did you eat? DO you practice proper food combining?
Thanks and congratulations! That is awesome!!

This is so wonderful to hear, and I plan to share this information as well with my Lupus family members - I delighted in reading your post and thank you for this information.
It is truly wonderful to read a post that tout the benefits of raw - it is amazing what God has made available for us to eat and how our bodies can function on a plant base diet. You are rawking Cactus!

Callie... and Maverick......and delirium....how many months did it take, and was I a hundred percent?....well first off I started this about 4 or five months or so ago, before that I was already restricting certain foods that I thought were contributing(dairy used to make it really flare up big time) but nothing cleared it, after finding out about raw foods I attempted to be 100% but I would slip now and then, nothing really big just maybe a little mayo on a salad or Id nick a chip from one of my kids plates, that kind off thing, so I was about 90%, but this weird thing happened 2 weeks ago, I was talking to someone about something else, and they were saying that if you expect 100% benefits you have to give something 100% effort. and suddenly I had this light bulb switch on in my head, and I thought thats it! Im so busy with the family, I always put making their food first(my husband is pretty sceptical about raw food) and then I put a half hearted effort into making my food interesting etc, so for the last two weeks Ive made all sorts of things out of Alissas book and come up with a few things of my own, Ive made my diet as perfect as I can and as interesting and Ive stayed 100% with no muckups, and its been really easy, once I set my mind to it, and its since then Ive seen the biggest changes, in this last two weeks, and I do try to food combine, at least some of the basics like eating fruit on its own, because Ive been food combining for a few years now, I know which foods dont work together for me and what I can get away with,
Arky..and Dawn39.... I dont eat grains, because I have celiacs disease they make me very sick anyway, so I've not had them for a long time, but I do have sprouted buckwheat and I love it, and as for the linseed, yep I go through that by the ton, I make the crackers with it I also grind it up and use it in everything I can get away, its an amazing little seed and as you say it helps a myriad of complaints, as for fats and oils etc, I only use a pure raw olive oil, I havent been able to find the coconut oil where I live in the U.K., but I am still looking.
sweet lips.... the lupus, although not gone, is so improved that many of the symptoms aren't there, I don't get mouth ulcers now, the achy joints are almost gone, Ive not been half as tired, and the typical face rash has gone completely as well, and Ive not had a single liver, kidney or chest infection for months all of which were regular occurrences, all of those things improved in the first few months when I was only 90%, have any of your family members with Lupus tried living raw? sometimes after years of the doctor telling you its there to stay and the best you can do is manage the symptoms its hard to believe just eating a different diet could have much effect, I was sceptical, but I am living proof it is possible, obviously I don't know if I can cure it this way, but with the excitement I feel for the new healthier me, I intend to give it a good old try.
I hope I answered all the questions :)

I was talking to someone about something else, and they were saying that if you expect 100% benefits you have to give something 100% effort. and suddenly I had this light bulb switch on in my head, and I thought thats it! . . . Ive stayed 100% . . . and its been really easy, once I set my mind to it, and its since then Ive seen the biggest changes,I know exactly what you mean. I've also described this as a switch flipping inside, cactus. It's a conscious decision -- you go from a place of intention to one of action, even though it's not immediate external action. It's what makes all the difference. No excuses, you're just there in that new place.
What you said about not putting the time and energy into taking care of yourself is profound, I think. Women are socialized to be caretakers and to put their needs secondary to their families. If only more women would see that they must take care of themselves first, and that doing so is actually doing what's best for their families. By honoring themselves and getting themselves healthy, they will be able to more fully fulfill all the roles in their lives.
But ... I've gotten away from you and your post. To get back on track: I love how you describe how you opened your eyes and turned that final corner.

when you said...........
"If only more women would see that they must take care of themselves first, and that doing so is actually doing what's best for their families. By honoring themselves and getting themselves healthy, they will be able to more fully fulfill all the roles in their lives."
you have no idea just how true that was for me, when I was really sick, I was miserable, and I often couldn't particpate in my familys lives the way I wanted to, but things are different now, I love my life, and my toddler is seeing a much more fun mum, and my husband, well lets just say he gets a lot more love:)
