hey guys.
i've been raw for 2 weeks. once in a while ill eat a sprouted whole grain piece of bread with dinner, but i haven't done that a lot (about 4 times). the first 5 days of diet were BAD. i had sinus problems, gas, pains, fatigue, headache, brain fog. then it went away. .
now i measured today and since the begining i haven't lost any inches. i still have a double chin.
i eat fruit in the am (with a green smoothie sometimes). at lunch i have veggie salad or nuts/ peanut butter and a fruit.
dinner is a smoothie, or salad, or nuts or whatever. im trying to make this intuitive. i dont want to follow diet "rules"- food combining/timeing/calories. because i've dealt with tons of eating disorders. but im stuck and i dont want to be fat anymore! im 5'4 and 140 with about 30% body fat.
has anyone else gone through this? how long did it take too lose weight.
also, i followed a bodybuilding diet on and off for the past 3 years (protien 5-6 times a day-lots of chicken).
feeling a bit hopeless,

Hi there,
Be patient. It will happen. I lost 100 lbs on raw and now have to be conscious about keeping my weight ON. I never thought that would ever be a concern for me! LOL!
You may want to try lowering the amount of nuts and fats you eat and concentrate more on fruits and greens. The fats have a LOT of calories and a very high fat ratio (obviously).
Blessings,
Audrey

Wow! A whole two weeks and you still have a double chin? I'm guessing it took longer than two weeks for you to get that, eh? ;)
You know, people hear about others eliminating excess weight and they expect miracles. From what you've said, it sounds to me as though your body has other issues that the nutrients are taking care of ~ things you most likely don't know about.
The raw and living food program is not designed specifically for weight loss; it's designed for health. Weight loss happens.
As Audrey said, be patient. Some eliminate excess weight immediately; others wait a couple of months, others, even longer.
Also, there may be more to your lack of weight elimination than you might think including mental and emotional reasons. I know it sounds strange yet, just because your conscious mind wants to eliminate, your subconscious may want to hold on which is why you've gotten fat in the first place.
Consider these questions ~ is this excess weight a life-long thing or did it happen recently? If so, what's the underlying cause? What happened that made you gain weight? Do you eat for emotional reasons such as depression, anxiety, for rewards? Social pressures? If you've eliminated weight before, what did people say? What caused you to regain it?
Looking into your emotions around habits, cravings and eating patterns may make it easier to eliminate.
ALSO, as I said, it's very possible there's something else going on physically that nature knows needs addressing and that may be happening as well.
Be patient and trust in the process. Happy eating! :)

I'm guessing it took more than two weeks to put on that weight. As everyone else said, be patient. My weight loss has been slow and steady, But my health is so much improved! Focus on how you feel and the looks will come later.

thanks guys. i do need to just calm down. this has to work. it just will.
i just can't wait. i know it isn't about losing weight, but for me, it is a part of it. i have tried so many things and drove myself crazy. i want raw to be my release from this. i want to be able to listen to my body, beat depression and find a healthier shape and mind, and not count calories all day.
thanks for your support. i look up to all of you guys. it's so hard not to worry that i'm one of the people that it just won't work for or something :/.

First of all, I'm not a guy. Secondly, yes, yet, what does "work" mean to you? It's all "working" naturally as it should AND, what you focus on, you receive. Focus on weight...
i just can't wait.
Not as though you have a choice in the matter. ;)
i know it isn't about losing weight, but for me, it is a part of it. i have tried so many things and drove myself crazy.
And, still are. You're running the same pattern you've run before.
thanks for your support. i look up to all of you guys. it's so hard not to worry that i'm one of the people that it just won't work for or something :/.

As I said, it's "working" just maybe not the way YOU want it to but the way it's supposed to. Trust in the process.

Revvell, I love your candid responses.
Try to focus on the many other raw benefits. If you keep the weight issue in mind constantly, you will definitely drive yourself crazy.
I want to lose at least 40 lbs. I'm at an unhealthy weight, and have been for quite some time. While I really really want to lose all this unnecessary weight, I try to focus on other stuff as well. What else can raw do for you? Well...my teeth are whiter, my face SEEMS to be clearing up a bit, I have a little bit more energy, less IBS symptoms. (only after about 11 days) And I haven't even been doing 100%. I've slipped a few times, but I'm working on it. Also....my youngest son was looking kind of sickly in the face, but since I added tons of raw food and green smoothies to our diet, his appearance has drastically improved! That speaks volumes to me!
Just remember that we don't destroy our bodies overnight, so there's no way we are going to be able to overcome our issues overnight. It takes time and it DOES work. Don't give up yet.

Patience is key! When I first started raw I didn't loose. My body had alot of healing to do b4 that could take place....maybe that's what your body is doing! Eventually it will all come off--in the right time!
Try going 100% raw & not focusing on weight (as everyone else is saying) that isn't so much good motivation b/c it can take time. Just think of all the awesome nutrients that your body is getting through raw & how much your body is thanking you because of it.

All GREAT responses here! You see, it's very endemic in our culture to expect a "quick fix" for everything, including long-standing issues. Now, some improvements may manifest soon, but the truth of the matter is that many things really do take time to turn around. Focus on just the raw, and don't make things any more complicated, get some solid exercise to get your body moving, and after awhile, you'll indeed drop whatever weight it's meant for you to drop. Most of all, relax - do some de-stressing in addition to keeping up the raw. Good things WILL happen - "Rome wasn't built in a day". It's what you do over the long run with good habits that will stand you in good stead and get you to where you want to go.

So far I have lost 60lbs and my double chin but it took me since March. Give it time to heal from the instide out. Oh and peanut butter is not raw. Are you eating raw nuts or salted roasted ones?
Are you drinking coffee? Are you drinking lots of water?
What do you consider being raw?
