Sweet lips, now that does sound good.
Also, I wanted to add, if you wanted to keep that a fruitarian dish, you would simply leave off the onions and garlic. Remember, corn is considered fruit. Each little kernel on the cob is considered an individual fruit.
I definetly will make cream corn though, it does sound good. Thanks for sharing the recipe with us.

I just made some of this and BOY is it GOOD!! Thanks Sweetlips for the recipe.
Just had a wonderfully hearty and satisfying lunch as the creamed corn went perfectly well with my marinated greens! Mmmm...definitely a "comfort-type" meal it was!

Hey Doe, I live in Southern Maryland and Rawkinlocs is Washington state. Okay, I am game for the internet raw cafe - one of my dreams. I am glad the rest of you enjoyed or will enjoy this. I served it today with sliced tomatoes, and marinated spinach, and the salsa bread - made my toes curl and I hummed like a little kid. You can also use frozen corn if the seasons changed.

I altered this recipe to make "Cajun Cream of Corn Soup"
I added 1 cup of water to make it thinner. I added cajun seasoning. I then heated it in my water boiler up to 120. It is still classified as a raw soup as long as I keep it below 120. It also makes it more edible for non-raw people.
This is good soup. I added Celtic Sea Salt and fresh ground organic black pepper. This soup would taste good even to someone who was not into health food. I was afraid it would have a cashew taste, but it did not, I was surprised at how well it came out. The change I will make is this though. I will only blend up 2 ears of corn, and the remaining 4 ears will be added for texture. (I went with 3 ears blended, 3 ears unblended this time, but would like more texture for the next batch)

I wonder if you could make this recipe and just substitute corn with broccoli, make "Cream of Broccoli Soup" or something like that.

Just had Cream of Broccoli Soup. It was very good. I just left out the corn and put in one cup of blended Broccoli and then one cup of Broccoli pieces for appearance and texture.
Basically, you can make any variation you want from what I can tell, so I will make Cream of Celery, etc..

Just had Cream of Bok Choy, yes, you read it right, Cream of Bok Choy. It was very good.
I just altered the creamed corn recipe. I left off the corn. I added 1.5 cups of water. 1 cup of blended Bok Choy and 1 cup cut Bok Choy for texture.

I should never read the Recipe section at 1 a.m. I'm hungry! :D Although I love corn, I'm not crazy about corn soup/chowder. So I think I'll try the broccoli variation tomorrow. :D Perhaps I'll try the corn version too, maybe it's just *cooked* corn chowder I don't like!

The broccoli one was the best. However, this bok choy was not bad either. The bok choy has a strong green taste to it, so if you have a dark green leaf taste you are craving, it will definetly do the trick.
I think I will make the broccoli one again tomorrow.
I am still warming mine in the liquid warmer up to 120. It really satisfies my cravings for cooked food. I feel very content, not sitting around hungry all the time.

Could you warm the soup in the excaliber?

That is what I had for dinner tonight. I had Cream of Broccoli Soup. This is the best soup I have had in a long time. I made 2 large bowl fulls. I have one bowl in the warmer resting at around 118 degrees ready to be eaten. At that temperate, even if I don't eat it until tomorrow, it will be fine. I just give it a stir every now and then.

I just found this and am very excited to try this out. I have all my ingredients, but now one question  ....do I soak the cashews or not? If so, how long!
Thanks!
Sweet lips

No, you don't have to soak in advance - that is why the water is part of the recipe. But if you do soak, soak in the water for the recipe no longer than 2 hours and blend as directed.

Is the recipe for the marinated spinach and salsa bread in Alissa's book? If so what page?
Rawkinlocs
10-12-2005, 12:29 PM
No, those aren't in the book. I believe the marinated spinach is probably Sweetlips' own recipe...but Alissa does have a marinated kale recipe and you could probably substitute spinach for the kale.
The salsa bread SL's spoke of is a bread she made from some left-over salsa and flax seed that was dehydrated. You may be able to find it if you click on the banana icon and do an "Advanced Search", type in "Salsa bread or salsa cracker" and select the search to be done specifically in the recipe forum as to narrow down the search results. She posted about that a while back, so it should come up.

Wonderful soup!
I must eat everything spicy to I added 5 thai chili peppers.
And then I topped it off with cilantro. And diced tomatoes.
Eating it as I type!
