View Full Version : Thinking about buying this juicer...any input?

I've slowly been convincing myself to get a juicer. In my web travels I came across a play-by-play that compares the Jack LaLane juicer to a Greenstar and for my purposes the Jack LaLane will better suit me (basically this comparsion stated that while the Greenstar outperforms LaLane for grasses, LaLane kicks butt when it comes to fruit and veggies. The website was objective).

Enter the second part: The Jack LaLane is 250 watts and a whole lotta RPMs. I found a GE Juicer at Walmart that is about half the price ($49). It is 800 watts, but does not list the RPMs. It also has a 2 year warranty.

Have any of you had any experience with the GE juicer? If so; good, bad, indifferent?

I am not ready to pay more than $100 or so for a juicer, so please do not suggest a Greenstar or similar. I just need a nice, entry-level juicer since I am just beginning my raw journey.

Thanks in advance!

Our Costco carries the Jack LaLane juicer for around $85.

As far as the GE juicer from Walmart. No, I haven't tried it - but if you decide to buy it and don't like it, Walmart is SO great about returns! I would just hang onto the receipt and return it if you don't care for it.

I know you're asking for a review - wish I could have helped with that. *Ü*

ive seen alot of people at raw forums say the lalanes a solid buy ,
and ive looked at them at store and they seem pretty solid built

but im a big GE COMPANY fan , and seeing their juicer with 4 times the power / 2 year warranty / like half the price of the lalane makes me buy the ge if after i look it over it seems solidly built

the power allows you to juice faster as with the less powerful you must go slower so it doesnt bog down

ide go to www.amazon.com and search to see if they sell the ge juicer you want , if so check out their customer reveiws as sometimes theyve alot of them

I have a Green Star and Jack Lalane Juicer. I would NOT be without Jack's Juicer. I find it Fast, easy to assemble. Its My perfect Juicer for a Juice Fast. I don't think you'll be dissapointed with it.

Yeah...I'm actually an Assistant Manager for Walmart... I just HATE buying stuff and returning it :)

I think the GE would work best and like you said...if I don't like it, well I can def. return it.

I have the jack lalane - it's ok - I was disappointed with it's performance with pineapple, but that's all I can remember. these types of juicers are never good with grasses or herbs like parsley, etc.

The GE sounds like a great buy. But please remember, they're FANTASTIC for doing apples, carrots, celery, cucumbers but absolutely stink at doing greens, and don't do wheatgrass. (Well, they do, but you'll waste more than you get.

You really need to incorporate lots of greens in your diet without just fruity/sweet juices without the fiber, so eventually, you'll either need a Vita-Mix, which can do greens and green smoothies (for green juices /juice only), you can strain through a nutmilk bag....

or a juicer like the Samson, which I got for about !200. You get more "bang for your buck" with it, as opposed to the Greenstar.

I have all of them, and use them all: Vita-Mix, Jack LaLanne, Samson juicer.
