My partner in crime (also known as my 3 year old daughter) and I got our LOLF book back from the copy shop (we went and got is spiraled based on a suggestion we read on this forum). We decided to try our first "official" recipe today, based on ease since my helper insists on helping with EVERYTHING!

We made the banana-avo dip. It got an enthusiastic "yum" from DD! For me, it was ok. Not sure what to make of it actually. This was my first time outside of the occasional non-raw guacamole that I've ever had avocado so maybe I'm not a huge fan yet, but I thought it had a heavy taste and wasn’t sure what exactly to use it as a dip for.

I read that Anniez suggested eating it as a pudding, but I couldn’t handle that much “heavy” (I don’t know another way to phrase that word…it was just a very weird feeling in my mouth).

Anyway, not a total failure by any means. Anything DD likes is fine by me! I did end up using the rest of the dip as a base for the Avo Salad Dressing in the book… the ACV brought a nice zing to it and countered the sweet where you couldn’t even taste the banana.

Next up? Another dip probably. We are taking this very slowly as you can see.

Oh a side note, just because it was cute. Asked my DD what she wanted to eat and she was giving me ‘tude like only a toddler can so I made her “bug juice”… a banana and water. Told her it was a spider, a beetle and a snail… she got a kick out of it and LOVED her bug juice and now wants to bring it to her day care class tomorrow! LOL

She sounds so cute and that is great you are teaching her such healthy habits at an early age.

Thanks for the comment... she is a cutie pie! I think it's absolutely awesome because she will try ANYTHING! She may not like it, but she's at least game to take a finger or spoonful and try it.

We've always called her our little vegetarian because even as a baby (and including now) she's preferred snacking on and eating veggies and salads over any type of meat. She never had a cookie or piece of chocolate until about 6 months ago (I was torqued at my wife for days over that one).

First of all, I love that you're a Dad devoted to making his daughter apart of everything in his life... THAT is so valuable that she will NEVER forget it. Trust me! I'm a daughter. ;)

Second, the "Bug Juice" is quite possibly the most hilarious way of getting a toddler excited about a Smoothie that I've heard yet... Kudos, Daddy! Your little girl is getting a head start on LIFE through you. :)

Some recipes that a little tyke would also likely enjoy (based on my memories of being a Nanny/Housekeeper for 4 little ones several years ago) could include:

"Lemonade" - Run 2-3 crisp apples (cored) + 1 lemon (peeled) through your Juicer and serve fresh!

"Guacamole and Chips" - Alissa has some delish cracker recipes in her Book, and if you make them SUPER thin and add a little olive oil to the recipes, they come out really yummy and chip-like...

And I better not post the other recipes those kiddos liked because come to think of it, they were cooked Vegans.

:D

Good luck!
