PS- You can just call me dstar. I accidentally put in my whole e-mail address as my username!!!!!

Hello everyone!! I found out about this board from Mary Anne....we met on another raw food board. I think it's so important to have a support system during this wonderful switch to living foods so that is why I am here.

I have been raw for three 1/2 weeks. Sure I have had some slips but nothing like how I used to eat!! I was inspired to eat raw after my mom's health battles forced me to try to find a natural way to heal her and also to heal myself. Her and I are working on this path together but it's harder for her because she has a condition which does not allow her to have a lot of Vitamin K (she has to take a blood thinner) and vegetables have the most amount of this Vitamin which aids in making blood thicker.

During these three weeks, I have seen some very positive changes. My skin has cleared up, I no longer have to wear foundation to cover it up. I do wear blush, mascara and lipstick though. The extra weight that I carried from eating sweets and cakes and cookies ( I used to eat them everyday after every meal!!!!) is gone. I wasn't heavy to begin with but I knew that I wasn't at my best because the food that I was eating was making me lethargic, pissed at the world and hungry all of the time.

Since eating raw, I have felt a pull towards all that nature has to offer and a pull to become closer to the people around me and to acknowledge people that I come in contact with. I used to be so guarded and I never gave compliments...that can really take a toll on personal relationships and it can give other people a feeling that you are a distant person that they don't want to get close to. Anyway, I find myself giving strangers compliments now just so that I can see them smile!! I am loving this. I am more giving and loving....little things like that just make my day!!

I am very happy to have found a nurturing board like this where I can continue explore raw foods and become a healthier and happier person!

I have also started practicing yoga and that goes hand in hand with the raw food diet! Looking forward to talking and meeting everyone on here!!

All my best,
dstar

Hi dstar!

Welcome to this board :D
I'm so glad you and your mom are in this together, it makes the transfer a bit easier than doing this on your own! Thank god for the support of this board, the people here are amazingly friendly and warm, and you can always count on them for your questions, support, etc!

See you around!

dstar,

Congratulations on going raw! It doesn't suprise me that you've seen positive changes already. Raw food is magical. There are so many delightful changes that take place in the body.

This is a great board. I'm glad you found it.

Welcome dstar and Veganwannabe. It's great to see this board growing. Now if I could just find some people in Kalamazoo, Michigan.......

I've been raw since August 1 and am doing great. This way of eating suits me so well and I have found it to be so much easier than I thought it would be. I am still in discovery mode and am trying new dishes all the time. I just got a dehydrator and made flax crackers. They turned out great and I am munching along.... :D

Yes welcome to Dstar and veganwannabe! I came here not out of seeing others sick, but because i am trying to raise 2 small boys in a way that is environmentally friendly and healthy and raw food is both. I was watching Corporations last night by Michael Moore and LOVE that i don't support too many corporations. No fast food, buy at thrift shops, live simply and am just loving who i am becoming--for so long i struggled with wondering who i was and it is FINALLY starting to come together for me since the birth of my children--i owe my wonderful journey to them!! OK, too much talking, again welcome to the boards!!

Hi Smasty!
I saw your raw journal and boy oh boy do you look so wonderful!!!! I was showing my Mom and sister your transformation. My mom is on the bandwagon with me but my sister is the one who keeps complaining that she can't stand her diet and is gaining weight (she's a vegetarian) but she won't commit to raw, which is fine because she isn't ready. But I wanted her to see your journal pics so that it would motivate her. She saw a big difference and who knows? Maybe I planted a big enough seed!!

Thanks!

Hey Diana!
I just checked out your web site, very cool! Were you born in Romania? When I lived in Seattle, I worked very closely with a bunch of Romanian guys that were fixing up my house...they were so GREAT! They taught me how to say "thank God it's Friday"....All I can remember is "mutsamesk....." I probably didn't spell that right.

So...it's that time of year that Home Alone is on all the time...where do I find you in the movie?

Thanks for the nice words, btw. Listen...I have struggled with food for so long...gaining weight, losing weight, gaining weight...over and over. Raw has released me from that terrible cycle! So, I hope that seed grows.

Welcome, dstar! Loved your website. I want to get a teen to interview you for vegetarianteen.com. Interested? I think it's super that you've found the raw way of life, and it's great to have you here.

Hi Melanie~

I would totally be interested as long as they're okay with the fact that I'm not a teen anymore!! Even though I was just asked two weeks ago if I was over 18!! I would definitely be interested, how does your friend want to contact me? Through e-mail or AOL Instant Messenger (my username is Daiana78) or telephone. Just let me know!! Thank You!!

PS~ I really enjoy your posts. Very honest and knowledgeable!! So cool that you are writing from Mongolia, the Internet is so great at bringing people closer!

Talk to you soon,
Diana

Hi smasty!
I know what you were trying to say in Romanian....."thank you" which is spelled like: multumesc!!! But the t has a tss sound.

I was actually one of the kids in Home Alone. My name was Sondra in the movie and I was shown mainly in the beginning where everyone is going crazy in the house and in the first movie I had a little line exchange with Joe Pesci when he was dressed as a cop. They usually cut that part out when they play it on TV. But you can see it on the video. I looked like such a little chipmunk when I was in that film, that was before braces and contact lenses!!! It was such a wonderful experience and what can I say? It got me hooked!!

Hi dstar *waving* I hope you'll enjoy this board as much as I do. The people here are really nice and very willing to share there knowledge.

I liked your website and your song is lovely! Are you going to upload more of your songs?

dstar

Thanks for the interest Tanja_swe, but for now I am just going to leave one song on there for now. I am working on my album and I would rather people hear a rockin' track than just me and my guitar!! But thanks though!!
