Hello everyone!! *waves* :)

As the name implies, I am OnMyJourney...figuratively and literally. I've been making changes in regard to the health of my and my daughter's life over the past several years and I am now a vegetarian (after a 5 month run with Pesceterianism). In early October I decided to do the Master Cleanse to rid myself of as many toxins as possible and to use it as a platform to begin my life as a vegetarian, with the goal of 100% raw. I have never felt better in all my life. I am resting better than I ever have (which has always been a major problem for me, thus my previous addiction to caffeine). Speaking of such I haven't had a Diet Coke OR cup of coffee since Oct 16, which is a HUGE deal for me. Despite such, I am so much more mentally clear, alert and energetic. I found that upon completing the cleanse (I did 12 days) that I lost all desire for meat and caffeinated drinks. It's as if my taste buds have no point of reference for it. I still enjoy the smells of the meats and coffee when it is around me, but I don't desire to have it. Weird, huh?

My 10 year old who still eats some meat (organic) is requesting less and less as the days pass and is very much enjoying the vegetarian and raw food dishes and snacks that I buy/prepare for her. I am BEYOND ESTATIC about the changes in our lives and the health benefits we now experience and will continue to experience. I was so out of my mind excited last night as she and I talked about it that she told me I should be a "health food preacher." I burst into laughter! ...gotta love kids! :D

I've lurked here for a long time before joining...and then being a bit nervous continued to lurk until last night. I have learned so much from you all as I read day in and day out. I thank you so much for your insight and wisdom and for sharing your experiences! They have touched my life and that of my daughter in an immeasurable way and we are grateful.

Right now, I am saving for Vita Mix and Excalibur 9 tray dehydrator! I can't wait to MAKE, in my own kitchen, some of the wonderful treats and meals for my daughter that I have read. I have wandered the cyberworld collecting raw food recipes and memorizing them so when the day comes she and I can go "bananas" (hehe) in the kitchen! The thought of KNOWING that every morsel put into her mouth will be wholesome and amazing fuel for her body and brain excites me to the point of tears!

I am loving this journey thus far and can't wait to learn more from you all, get to know you on a more personal level and get my dream raw kitchen tools!!!

Have a wonderful day everyone and thank you Alissa, for the vision to create this space for us all.

yeeeee haaaaa , im stoked hearing two more vegans developing on earth :D

as long term vegan ive read alot on it , and though theres a debate on facts of B12 ive seen many very bright vegans warn you have to B12 supp . ecspecially in kids . but i guess B12 stores last for up to like 7 years when going vegan from being omnivorious . i like ' jarrow ' brand ' methyl B12 ' , its comes in lemon flavor :)

for daughter omitting meat a good heavy protein / fat raw replacement i like is adding alot of avacado plus some chopped walnuts or alot of raw sesame seeds to a salad of mixed dark greens with aloto vegis like brocoli and mushroom

good day :)

Hi there michigan roman!

I love your energy!!! :D:D Thank you for the info about B12 and the protein/fat replacement options! We were just talking about avocado last night...mainly because I wanted some guacamole. :p

What she and I have decided to experiment with for her is "raw til dinner," a term/process that I read about and then gradually wean her to 100% raw...or as high as she is comfortable or she finds enjoyable. We're going shopping this weekend and plan to lay out all the veggies and fruits on the counter and come up with some great concoctions (lol) for her school lunches. We are both uber excited! :D

Hi Eva!

Thank you so much for the encouragement! This is sincerely the best decision I have made for our health. I just wish I knew about this before she was born so she could've started life this way. But now I know...and like Emerson said, "Make the most of yourself, for that is all there is of you." :D

Love the quote, and seriously... I'm sure you're right. Well, there is a good chance of it anyways! I can't even believe how much my life has morphed for the better since I went raw. :)

I'm a fanatic about quotes, I have journals and journals full of them. But I digress....:o:)

Last night she and I were sitting in the living room floor literally salivating over some of the raw food recipes that we found! When I get my Vita Mix and Excalibur Dehydrator...watch out world!!!

I'm so disappointed that the raw food scene hasn't exploded in Chapel Hill/Carrboro. I want a full-fledged raw restaurant like RIGHT NOW! ...I'm a little impatient. lol I anticipate that it will, it's perfect for our population for the most part. I'm going to try to find a pot luck or some type of raw food social activity that we can participate in. Wish me luck!

ETA: Eva, I just started following you on twitter! yay!!! (I'm OnMyJourn3y over there...someone "stole" my username! Grrr lol)

You will have to force the explosion! Seriously, one person can make such a huge difference. Just a word to the wise (that's you)... don't push it too hard on people!

And geez, can't believe someone stole YOUR name. Lame. That's a reminder to play more on Twitter. I've been playing up a storm on Facebook these days but less so on Twitter. Glad you reminded me.

Have a beautiful day!

You're right! I will have to go out into the community and rally the troops! I can do it! *hugs* Thanks for the encouragment Eva!

LOL @ stealing my name. Guess I should've clarified that statement, my apologies. Not so much my "given name" as my screen name. It would've been MAJOR lame had that taken my actual name! But considering that they didn't, it's no biggie. I mean, I suppose there are thousands of people on a journey and felt the name was appropriate for them. Can't say that I have dibs on it (though I act like I do sometimes). lol I was just a little let down about it, but the "3" works in place of the "e" well enough to get my point across with OnMyJourn3y...I hope. :D

Wishing you a wonderful day as well! Thank you! :) Looking forward to chatting with you on Twitter.

Chapel Hill, well I moved out into the county last summer. But I still spend all of my time in town, shopping (Whole Foods, Trader Joe's, Weaver St Market) with work and friends and all of my daughter's activities. Yayy! North Carolinians! :p
