Hi everyone. I'm Laura. I'm 47, a soapmaker from Connecticut. I ate almost 100% raw all summer, slipped the last month or so, and am recommitting. I started with the raw just as a detox for a few days after a crazily rich dinner party. But I noticed on Day 2 that my ankles weren't swollen anymore, so I decided to keep going. Pretty soon my arthritic hip didn't hurt, my thinking was clearer and I wasn't getting headaches or cramps. So I kept with it! Unfortunately when the weather got cooler I gradually reverted to SAD and my symptoms returned. Now I've been raw again for three days and am starting to feel good again--even though today was my first caffeine-free day in a month!

I've been lurking and learning here for a while, but it will be good to be able to post and really be part of the community.

hi ln :)

ive been slipping on coffee and recommiting now before winter
coffee drinking habit sets in . i swear it doesnt warm me up anyway

speaking of swollen ankles : when i went raw after about a year and a half or so my feet became so less inflamed i had to go down a shoe size to get a tight fitting hiking boot . ide swear too my face , though not real puffy to begin with , became less swelly / more defined

many people like adding powdered or crushed red pepper to dishes to help feel warmer in winter

happy caffeine withdrawls :eek::D

Hi Michigan! Yup, I noticed my face was less puffy when I was raw, and more puffy when I slipped. I wasn't sure how much was due to some weight I lost. (I don't have a scale so I don't know how much weight, but I dropped a size or two, and I"m pretty small to begin with.)

Welcome on your new journey. I hear ya about reverting because of the weather but try looking into the whole soup thing. And if you can commit to the 100% RAW challenge it might be helpful.:)

Yeah, the 30 Day Challenge really helped me get going (and the four day fast I did before the 30 days). You know how and you're re-committed good for you!!
Welcome and blessings.
