I did need my questions answered after all. Sorry.
Well I wanted to say that my friends saw the Champ at a tag sale type place (for ten dollars!!!!) and bought it for me. This morning I had banana strawberry ice cream for breakfast!!!
I just made almond butter so fast as well as banana almond creme.
So, how to do greens best?
is yours slow to make juice or do u think my blades need to be replaced (auger)?
Is anyone able to make wheatgrass juice if you cut it up small?
What else do you make with it?
I am so excited about this!!!! Please tell me your experiences with yours!!!

Champion is a GREAT workhorse for ice cream and hard veggies. I never found it to be efficient with greens because it runs hot and fast. You may need a new auger anyway.
Cut celery in 1" (or so) pieces so the strings don't wrap around. Don't remember what I did with greens or if I ever did them. I think you'll be wasting your wheat grass if you use the Champion for it.
If the greens aren't going through, I'd wrap them around carrots or put them in, then harder things like beets or carrots.

Oh that helps!! I find the greens tough to juice yet the juice is so strong and the pulp dry..it just takes a while. I had been alternating hard with greens..greens then a carrot, greens then an apple...it seems to work but def not perfectly!!!
Yes seems I may need new augie
Thanks!!!!

Hi ll ~
I recently replaced my blade and I'll be honest - it didn't make any difference, so my old one really didn't need to be replaced. But - that's just my experience, yours may well need to be replaced.
I do juice greens with my Champion doing similar to what Revvell suggests. Take parsley for example. I put down a chunk of something juicy like apple, celery or cucumber, then perhaps 6-7 stalks of parsley (which I've folded in thirds), then top that with more juicy produce and push it through.
I used to cut up the parsley, but find I don't need to do that. I do cut up the celery for the exact reason Revvell stated too.
Yes, it's slow going and I do find that it gets warm. I've been juicing 2 quarts every other day. So, during this 2 quart juicing session - I will stop the Champion and take off the entire blade assembly, cleaning the blade itself and without taking it apart - I then rinse out the blade housing. I don't rinse out the feed tube though, I leave what produce is up in there alone to be fed on through when I reassemble it.
Yep - it takes some time to do this, but that's what works best for me and the Champ. :)
Today I juiced whole Romain lettuce leaves and I simply folded each leaf all up (the spine cracks) so that it would fit down into the tube and then followed it with a juicy piece of something else.
I like running a small chunk of ginger through and a couple very small pieces of lemon with skin - I like a little bit of lemon in there to cut the green.
I tend to juice at once: beets, some kind of green leafy vegetable, parsley, ginger, lemon, carrots, apples, celery and cucumbers.
You may not have gotten instructions with your juicer, so just a tip - I keep cheaply priced olive oil on hand as they tell you to oil the shaft (that the blade fits onto) after each use. Now - I mean you want the whole shaft oiled so that the blade slides on and off easily.
Ten dollars ~ I'm still smiling for you! *Ü*

Oh thank you soo much Deb...that helped a ton! Yup a whole ton..hahaha
I beleive I can get instruction booklet online.
Olive oil ..thankx!I am excited.....ten dollars was the awesome part. It took all my muscles to carry it though...hahaha
Hi lovenlife ~ I'm just reading on their site, well, in the manual on site that you can juice wheatgrass. From the manual:
WHEAT GRASS JUICE
Type of Vegetable to Use: Freshly cut wheat
grass.
Preparing the Vegetables: Cut the grass in 2 inch
lengths, 6 cups of grass yield 6 ounces of juice.
Feeding Process: Juice the wheat grass a small
amount at a time, alternating with a small amount
of water, until all is juiced. For a tastier nutritious
drink, add 6 walnuts and four cups of carrot
juice.
---------------------------------------------------------------
Have you tried it?
I haven't tried juicing it after cutting it into 2" lengths before - so I might give it a try. I've got 2 trays planted right now.
I'm going to follow RawTruth's advice about cutting the whole tray and bagging it and keeping it in the fridge and then juicing daily. *Ü*

I always knew that side augers do wheatgrass. And it is the stringiness that gets it bogged downa nd then hot. So it needs to be cut in short peices.
I was surprised when people said it could not. I will when I get some WG..I have none and am not in a position to plant it right now either.
Thankx alot...see how it goes.

Today my champion sent out, thru the screen underneath, ALL my greens and apples n such. It was a thick goop mostly made of foam.
I had to take it up and add water and make it a smoothie. I WAS making juice of course!
Does this mean the screen is too open on the bottom..hmmmm
Nothing came out the end hardly at all.
That doesn't sound right lovenlife. If the screen is in place correctly, there's really no way for solid matter to come through the screen as you describe...(?)
I just re-read your post - something's not right with what's happening. Can you take a picture of your Champion and the screen, assembled, etc.? I can take a picture of mine, but I'm leaving soon, so I cannot do it right now. *Ü*

I think the screen is all one piece with the cone unit. (well it is twoor three I guess) It has been letting only juice through..today it let all foamy fiber stuff thru and it was smoothy thickness. it has not been doing this at all.
Wonder if the screen is letting it thru now
I will show you what kind I have. I looked online at champion juicer parts and they are all the same parts for all. Mine looks like every one there!
OH I see what might have happened. The green sgot stuck between the screen and the casing and made an opening. hmm
I dont have the booklet but will find it online. I am going to look up the model number now.
Thnkx Deb, I knew I could count on ya!

Go here http://championjuicer.com/wrapper.php?file=models.php and mine is the top one except it is white.
I think you are right about the blade. The teeth look fine on it. Not sure a replacement would do a thing. The screen even looks fine. I oiled the dowel the auger slides onto.
Maybe its just a matter of still figuring it all out.I would like to order or find somewhere a new body, as this one the clip that locks it in place has broken off. So while making juice you have to hold the cone from going sideways.
My pic attached
Hmmm - I'm going to use links..
So, where the body connects to the hub (I'm using the terms used on Champion's site) - here's a picture (http://championjuicer.com/product_info.php?cPath=21&products_id=38&<osCsid>)you can click on to enlarge.
You see the hub on the right side. Are one of the 3 hooks broken off? I'm thinking that's probably why it's misbehaving...
What about calling Champion and asking them? I've always gotten really good customer service! You might be able to replace just the hub and I wonder if that would fix the problem.
Keep us posted! *Ü*

Yes one of the three are broken. The top one that locks it in place is broken out. I have to hold it while it juices so it wont spin. This would affect the performance? Probably? Thnx

Hi lovenlife ~ I don't know for sure that it would affect the performance -- but it would be interesting to see what Champion could tell you. And it would be great to not have to hold that while juicing.
I'm using both hands for other things - one for pushing it through with the plunger (mine is also wood - new ones are plastic - wink!) and the other hand is grabbing produce to juice.
It looks like it might not be that costly to replace if they'll let you get it alone.. *Ü*

Hi Deb, my friends that bought me this one for ten bux (twelve with auction fee for whatever) said they see these in their travels everywhere. So they are on the lookout for a whole different one. Or one that has parts for this one. I fear not..hahaa
Was funy that there was an acme juicer there, like my omega centrifuge one, and they were charging forty dollars! Like that one was better than the champion...well maybe it has value in a different way.
Wow - I'm all about thrifing and that would be *great* to get another Champion for parts!
I watch Craig's List every day or two as well ~ but we live in a smaller area, so I haven't seen the great deals that others find living in a large area like an Excalibur for $20, etc! But I keep looking and thrifting where and when I can! *Ü*

This is a blessing for sure! Cant wait to see what u find. My gold, at the end of that rainbow, would be a vitamix.
