Two questions here

First one: Would someone know how long frozen fruit and vegetables last in the freezer. We are heading into spring/summer and I absolutely LURVE tropical fruits and was thinking when it gets close to Autumn again I can freeze all those tropical fruits and make smoothies through the winter months, but not sure if the fruit/veges will rot if stored for several months.

Second question: I tried going on a juice fast but just can't do it, what I have noticed is that I love my smoothies, only started making them after everyone started raving about them. But the question is, does having nothing but smoothies for a month still qualify as a juice fast? its probably a dumb question but I just had to ask. I was thinking about having a glass of smoothie every 2 to 3 hours, using different fruits/veges for variety, also adding a few nuts here and there to the smoothie. for protien.

Thank you in advance.

I wouldn't classify a smoothie as juice. In juices the fiber is taken away. In smoothies you still have your fiber.

But drinking smoothies, you'll still be all raw and that's what is important. You will eventually have to "eat" food again as it's an important part of the digesting system. Chewing get's the saliva going, which is the first part of getting the digestion system going. But a month of smoothies sure won't hurt you any more than juicing a month. It's ALIVE!!!!!

Thank you so much Helen for your quick response. I thought that drinking nothing but smoothies was ok but after your post, your right, I will need to eat as well after I finish a month of smoothies.

Once again thank you so much

does anyone know how long you can freeze fruit/veges in the freezer??? I know for instance that meat or fish only last a certain number of months but not sure about fruit or whether the enzymes get destroyed the longer its kept frozen.

anyone please???

Now That I live back in the NE (vs CA produce) I buy extra fruits/veggies to freeze ex; seasonal Blueberries etc. I will save as much as poss. from gardens/friends gardens/farmers market. I find this helps through my winter SAD (condition not the diet) I try to use all the frozen everything before I start planting by then the stores have better produce selections. So thats about 7 months @ the most?

I found this article for you

Hope that helps
