Hello, I am really excited about this raw food thing! I am just tired of eating junk and feeling weak. I tried to eat so called healthy food, white meat and rice for a long time that was my thing and pizza. I learned that cooking your food takes the benefit out of it and now I am on a mission to eat the best way possible so I can have some energy! I am twenty three and I feel like... I don't know how old, lol, but older than I am. Anyway I have a bunch of raw vegetables in my fridge and I don't know if I should just eat them plain, or make them taste a little better. I thought it would be easy, but everytime I open my fridge they just look at me and I look back at them and thats the only connection we have lol. Its like jumping into a pool, I need a push or something. What does Raw actually mean, does it mean no heat on your food at all, can I eat hot cereal? Can someone kindly explain how food is prepared generally? It would be most appreciated...

Hi there, and welcome. I'm fairly new to raw food, too. (since july), and to me, raw food means whole, unprocessed food in as natural a state as possible. On Alissa's main page - http://www.alissacohen.com - you will find a lot of "how to" for getting started with raw food. There are many other sites about raw food as well, like thegardendiet.com

Stick around, you'll get a lot of ideas, recipes and pointers for making the transition to raw. Trust me, it feels really good!

The more I seek to define Raw, the more variations I see. It is many things to many people. Some heat to a certain temp that varies, some use no heat, some are fruitarian, and there are "omnivore" raw foodists.

First Good morning and congrats on taking charge of your health!!!!!
This site supports the Vegan Living Food Diet. With that said you can find tons of recipes on this site and the people here ROCK!!!! There are two threads on Raw food photos OMG RVG & RP etc...... have posted the most Rawsome recipe & pics. I'm not as gourmet with my style.
I suggest that you purchase the book and DVD this will answer tons of questions.

If you go to the home page you can scroll through all the threads, or use the search button above.

I find that there is something to learn daily!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Hirah, welcome!!!! I'm very new to this myself. Starting my 30 challenge tomorrow in fact. First try making a list of your favorite fruits and veggies. Somethings we are used to eating cooked are excellent raw(brocolli and cauliflower come to mind for me). Alissa has a great book that is full of info. She also has a DVD, but I haven't gotten it yet. You can order it from this site. Be gentle with yourself, and concentrate on taking care of yourself by eating whole healthy raw foods. Read all the stuff you can, the folks around here are very helpful and full of creative ideas and recipes. Good luck and keep us posted on how you are doing. Blessings Earthmama
