hello everyone. Is it true that raw peanuts are bad for me and that I should not eat them?
Thanks sean
Hi Sean,
I tried raw peanuts and I didn't like the
taste. They were very starchy and didn't
have much flavor. I then soaked them first
and the taste didn't improve.
The main reason to avoid peanuts is due to
the mycotoxins. They are contaminated with
aflatoxins and fungus.
The organic peanut butter made by Arrowhead
is the best choice because the peanuts come
from a desert environment where the mycotoxins
won't grow.
Nature's First Law sells some great peanuts that
don't contain mycotoxins, I haven't tried them but
I heard they taste good.

According to references below, raw penauts is not an optimal food. Perhaps you could eat some nuts instead, if you have cravings for something dense and nutty?
"Peanuts should never be eaten, even raw, as they contain toxic compounds":

Also, they "contain antinutrients, cause red blood cell clumping":

(I once had a pet rat :) )
All the best,
Gosia.

You might check out the peanuts Nature's First law carries, which contain no aflatoxins.
