Norway here. Stumbled over this site while browsing the net for raw food information. Heard about raw food for some years, but it was too hippie for me and didnt consider it. Came of a special diet some weeks ago, where i was only allowed to eat chicken, fish, veggies, grains and some fruits. No spices what so ever, no dairy, no oils or fat...nada.

This was a very good diet for me. It opened me up to how much food affects us. I could really feel how my body became more sensitive and how my mind was more calm, when i didnt have the cravings for salt, fats and sugars that is. Anyway, when i came of that diet, i quickly came into my old eating pattern which was horrible.

One week ago i visited a friend and he offered me a smoothie, packed with hemp seeds, oats, greens, spirulina, berries etc. And it was great. I could feel how it affected my system and made me feel good. Some days later i was in a health food store who specialises in superfoods and have some form of expertise(if that exists) in raw food. I ended up buying some green and white powders. Three days ago i started making smoothies and eating mostly raw foods in the days.

So, thats where i am now. Hope this journey will unfold as much as these last couple of days. :)

Welcome RV. I'm married to a Danish Viking ( he pronounces it Wiking ) though. :)

My suggestion, eliminate the powders and go for whatever fresh, raw foods you can get. I was in Dk. for the summer and there was a LOT of fresh, raw, organic food there (imported). Not sure what it's like this time of year where you are though.

Enjoy the forum!

Congratulations on "stumbling" onto this transformational lifestyle. (There are no accidents, though, right?!).

I totally agree with Revvell (now that's not a surprise!). Powders are powders and not living, raw foods. Even though the ingredients -- veggies, fruits, etc. -- started out that way, they no longer have life after they're dried. They're not bad for you, understand, they're just no optimal and certainly are not necessary or even recommended in most instances to be eating a raw food diet. Eat whole, ripe, organic, fresh greens, vegetables, sprouts, nuts/seeds, and some fruit and your body won't know what happened to it!

A smoothie with greens, berries, hemp seeds, spirulina is great. Spirulina, an algae incredibly high in protein, is wonderful for our bodies, has been eaten for centuries, and is one of the few powders (including chlorella, that I recommend.

You seem to be very in touch with your body. What a great gift as you begin on this next stage of your journey.

By the way, where are you in Norway?

Thanks for the welcome guys :)

I totally agree with you on the powder issue. That was one of my questions for the people in that health food store. I told them that i was thinking about buying a sprouter and if that would cover my nutritional needs. The answer i got was that that was really a good idea, but the ammount of nutrition in the powder was so high and that was really good for me, since i want my body to be alkine(is that the right word???). But I feel that there should be no need to take the powders. If you read my post here:

I say that I feel very high after eating. Ive just had a drink with activated barley, purely greens and now im about to drink my bio stabilizer drink. I feel those highs right now. I think its those ammounts of nutriants that make me high. And its a spacey high. Hmm. Think ill let those ones go if i cant find a good reason or argument to continue with them.

And Raw Truth, Im from Oslo:)

Great exchanging thought with you guys. Have a good one :D
