I had just a little leftover taco meat. So, I turned it into a burger and dehydrated it. It was delicious!!

I used this recipe:

TACO MEAT
Mix:
1 1/2 c. walnut, soaked 2-3 hours
3/4 c. sun-dried tomatoes, soaked 30 minutes, save water
¼ c finely chopped yellow onion
2 t taco seasoning
1 clove garlic, minced
sea salt to taste

Add sun-dried tomato water as needed to make it a "meaty" consistency.

I haven't seen a taco burger posted yet. If it has been, I apologize. I can't keep up!

That's a great idea -- I almost always have leftover taco meat, then it just sits in the fridge. I will try it - thanks!

Has anyone ever substituted a different nut for the walnuts? I'm allergic to them (still) and would LOVE to make Taco Meat entrees for my Dear One, but I wouldn't be able to eat them with walnuts...

I know I can google up a recipe, but EVERY recipe for Taco Meat I've seen has walnuts.

Maybe sunflower seeds instead of walnuts? Try halving the recipe to see if you like it. Let me know if it's good!

I ALWAYS use organic sunflower seeds, so I know it tastes good! Organic walnuts are just too expensive for me.
