For those of you in the DC area following Alissa's diet, should we meet? talk? share recipes? I can't think of a downside apart from the gas and the time. let me know.

I live in DC, and there is a very active meet up group in this area. Thing is, they tend to meet in Reston a lot, which is a no-go for me because I don't drive and Reston is not Metro-accessible. They are really nice folks and the group sponsors tons of activities.

If you want to contact me, here's my e-mail address:

I live in DC itself, very close to Takoma Park.

I'm thinking it might make sense for DC folks to have a Chatroom with a regular meeting time and then maybe a once a year get together somewhere kind of neutral between DC, MD and VA ... on the Mall or at a raw friendly restaurant in the district. I will follow up. Right now, I'm running into a headache between buying conventional kale at 79 cents a pound at my local ethnic market (I juice it, some of the pesticides go out with the pulp) and paying 8x as much at Whole Foods. Am thinking about growing my own since I eat a lot of it.

Paul where do you live? if you are near the dc maryland line, try glut food coop in mt rainier md, they might be cheaper than whole foods. if money is tight you can also volunteer there in exchange for store credit, or at least you used to be able to

Northern Virginia is around the horn so to speak. Am trying to see if I can network with local farms in Loudoun county (the next county west of Fairfax county where I live) for local produce. :)
