Smoothie-fasters: join me and / or share your experiences!

I feel like I've been having a little too much sugary fruit (bananas) - and also dried fruit - in the last month or so, and I feel like I could use a "detox"-month before christmas!

So my intention is to go on some sort of a smoothie fast for about a month. I'm planning on adding some hemp to each and every smoothie for some crunchiness and quality amino acids.

Does anyone have any wisdome to share, and are there any ppl who would like to join me? Peer support rawks! :)

Welcome! :) An even more effective fast would be to only have fats once per day or even skip them for several. The less fats, the more cleansing takes place.

Do you have plenty of recipes and any favorites?

I would love to join. :)

My name is Katie. I have been on a green smoothie fast for 10 days. It has been amazing!!! Someone said my "vibes seem higher or something". And it was a complete stranger!

I would Love to re-commit right here and share my recipes as well!

Thanks Dimond! I actually thought of making my lunch smoothie an avocado-based one, so maybe that would count as my once-a-day-fats.

I always make my smoothies based on how I feel, so that gives automatic variation for what goes in the blender :) Usually it's leafy greens, banana, apple or berries and then I usually put in some spirulina and also some hemp seeds so that I don't forget to chew ;)

That's great, Katie! I'm also hoping for an amazing experience :)

So as of tomorrow, I will be having green smoothies for four weeks. We'll see what happens!

I don't want to do a full month but will follow along and join you for a week or so later, like in the second week of December or so.

Hi fellow fasters! Today was day uno. How'd it go?

B: garden, greens, 2 banana, cacao, cayenne
L: garden greens, 2 apples, cinnamon, 1 TBS flax oil +1 tsp psyllium husk powder (1st time using it, didn't notice that much of a difference?)
Pre-run: garden greens, 1/2 tomato, 1 scoop of last night's guacamole, lots of cayenne!

Nice, loongg run. :)

D: spinach, 2 banana, handful of blueberries, TBS ground flax seed, 1 TBS coconut oil.

...I usually ingest less fat than this but I had just bought the coco oil and wanted a taste. Twas delicious!:D

Dimond, do you recommend fats once per day even whilst exercising?

I hope everyone's day went fantastically.

Welcome, katchmoleen :) ... fdsabhsas - this is a raw and living food site ;) We are doing a green smoothie fast!

I think I'll chime in - I'm kinda doing a juice and smoothie routine right now!

Today so far:

Banana, Pineapple, Baby Bok Choy + ginger

Apple, Beet (pre-juiced earlier), Celery + ginger

These are so good they should be illegal!

Hi revdrcyn :)

...For the past two days, I have had my usual morning smoothie of greens, bananas, cacao, and cayenne, but have also added 1 TBS of coconut oil. I have noticed that an hour later, I feel kind of ick, and I know it is from the coconut oil. I am not sure why? It is extra virgin organic. Maybe I should eat it later in the day by itself? I know the benefits of coconut oil are great. But maybe I should take it in smaller doses. Do you have any suggestions/thoughts?

I'm in. I feel like I'm just heavy and full of carbs. I need to do this smoothie fast because other wise I will become sad. I plan to start tomorrow because I've had my fill of thanksgiving. I wont be doing this for 30 days. I plan to do this up until Christmas. Then I will eat with the family, my will power will usually be shot again until the New years. One thing that I can guarentee is the the New year I will do a fast. I wish that I had this much confidence during the remainder of the year but this is never the case. ALL ABOARD !

Yesterday, Day 2 was hard. I only slightly felt light headed but I was extremely hungry at 10:00 pm after drinking all of this. I suppose not having to digest and break down food cause my matabolism to speed up?

grounded flaxseed, banana ,raspberries, boysenberries and black berry smoothie
ginger,tomatoe, squash soup with hemp
Blended broccoli, powered chlorella , BLeech !!
tblsp molasses (for iron and potassium)
multi Vitiman-Alive protein powder w/water
Detox tea, dandellion tea and Green tea.
organic (jar) black cherry juice

I'm on Day 3. I just got finished with a colonic and feel absolutely awful. So many toxins stirred up in my body and it left me feeling incredibly lightheaded, dizzy, and nauseous. I have a client call in 10 mins and then can't wait to take a nap.

The good news is I'm not backing out of my fast, so I'll take any amount of pain if I feel like it's detoxing (will be a different story if my body is telling me to stop).

Juniper, good luck. I know you can do it :)

Thanks Rachel. I'm trying.

Day 3

I was feeling mentally sluggish today -physically, I completed a spontanious 35 minutes of Dance/aerobics- I was very tempted to scoop some of my fiancee's beefy meat sauce and dump it in my mushy/baby food like squash and cabbage soup but after reading your blog it sort of inspire me to trek on. If you can pass up that Tsoynami then I can pass up meat sauce. Weew !

I pretty much drank and slurped the same thing that I had yesterday except I added mushed cook cabbage to my squash soup. I'm not missing chewing just ..certain flavors of food.

Haha, thanks for the smile Juniper. ;)

And good for you for 35 minutes of spontaneous exercise! I'm on Day 4 today and couldn't even put both of my socks on at the same time, or stand up long enough to juice a celery bunch and 2 cucumbers! I had to do the latter in 3 intervals, alternating with sitting on my couch.

(Not complaining though - like I said in my blog, I'll take the pain if I feel it's detoxing :))
