View Full Version : Wow, I'm on a massive high.

I have made the decision to make at least three recipes a week. This doesn't include salads or smoothies etc that are purely fruit/vegetable based.

They don't have to be fancy. It could be as simple as a coconut fruit shake.

But today I made a recipe I found somewhere. Please don't move to the Recipe Forum moderators, because the recipe isn't the main part of this post.

I am just on a high from how well it turned out. How am I able to produce something so decadent?

It is like a brownie base (walnuts, dates, cacao powder). Then it's covered with an icing (kind of like a ganache) made from avocado, coconut oil, honey (or alternative), vanilla bean, a dash of salt, a dash of cinnamon and cacao powder. If it was served to me as a 'normal' dessert, I would not have realised. It is amazing. (You make it in two layers in a pan and then put it in the freezer.)

I will give some to my boyfriend and afterwards tell him there is avocado in the icing.

It will take me at least two weeks to eat as it is so rich.

Aaaah, the joy of creation.

(Maybe the high is from the raw cacao...I don't know...)

I forgot to add, I rarely take the time to un-cook. Then I have no food to eat besides fruit and vegetables. If I want something more hearty I end up eating too many nuts/Lara Bars etc. I really need to get a dehydrator and make some flax seed crackers.

Wonderful! I love creating with cacao. It feels good to make something so divine, and the magic of cacao puts a smile on my face, everytime.

Good idea not telling your boyfriend about the avocado. ;) I know most everyone likes a cacao recipe made with avocado, but for whatever reason I can't handle the taste of avocado mixed with cacao. I have to use coconut butter (not oil), or cacao butter, or cacao paste rather than avocado.

Enoy the high! :D

Hi Queen Bean,
That sounds AMAZING! Where can I get the recipe for it?
I have been craving something sweeter and that sounds fabulous : )

I've discovered that I CAN eat cacao... as long as I eat teensy weensy amounts and only during the day. If I eat it at night as a dessert, I get a headache... if I eat it during the day, my body works off the "high" and I'm fine.

Cacao I like - it just doesn't always agree with me. :D

But this horrendously delicious recipe you are teasing us over... what is it?? Can you link me? :D

I've just had another slice. It is so amazing. The top layer is so creamy and out of this world. I keep it in the freezer. If I want a slice, I just cut it off and leave it for around 20 minutes before eating it. It is so decadent, yet you feel alive when eating it, not weighed down.

Here is the link.

I was more intuitive when I made it. For instance I used one avocado, not two - in fact less of most things, except maybe the coconut oil. It has still made a lot for me.

If you make it, let me know what you think!!!!!!

oh, and i used honey instead of agave. maybe a tablespoon or so. and of course i used raw cacao, not cocoa powder. oh, and i used real vanilla bean. once you've got all the ingredients, it's pretty quick to make. and i used a round glass dish, so i can cut slices like a cake.

Oh, and although I used just one avocado, it was a big one, and perfectly green and perfectly ripe.
