Hi there,
I started a raw eating plan about 6 years ago due to an arrythmia. I had read that someone had eaten a raw diet and had completely erradicated these pesky faulty heart rhythms.
I stayed on it for 6 1/2 months. I was completely 100% raw. My downfall was a darn cream cheese ball that for some reason....tiredness, sick...blah blah blah...I decided to taste and that was it for me for awhile :(
I resumed my icky eating and gained weight and began feeling more sick. So back on raw I went, about 85% raw this time and lasted 4 1/2 months...I don't remember what made me fall off the wagon that time.
The truth of it is I have an addiction to food and am destroying my health with what I am putting into my body.
Eating raw has been easier for me than a calorie restrictive diet and supports my environmental concerns as well. I lose weight effortlessly on a raw diet, I feel better physically and emotionally. I just feel more in tuned with life, I am not anesthesising by shoving foods in that my body just does not function well on.
I am glad to have found this forum. I hope to continue this lifestyle. Day 5 today and going strong. I do have a headache and sore muscles which I didn't have the other two times when I began the raw eating. I had been way more off track lately, thus detox may be the culprit this time around. I will be glad to have the feel good of the raw soon.
Looking forward to reading.

The truth of it is I have an addiction to food

Hi Tatine and welcome...

I used to think I had an addiction to food too. For about 35 years.

I then was dying and bed ridden.

Then I learned that somethings I ate were actually killing me - actually making me more hungry! (That was after I reached 528 lbs! See photo link under my signature block).

I started calling the bad stuff poison and I also learned what the really good stuff was. I studied for decades but only stumbled on my answers in the last couple years. I am now really happy with the fact that I actually did not have an addiction to food - I just had a long case of ingested poisoning!

There is a lot of info and a lot of help on this site and everyone here is on a journey to somewhere better - just like you.

By the way, is the great white north Siberia? I live in the Philippines.

Welcome GWN!
You have found the right place. You have already passed the first hurdle called realization. You have taken action. Your body is responding to its new "medicine". This time, you have a support system. Keep writing, it will further reinforce your healthy choices.

We're so glad to have you joining us tatine. You will be fine I am sure - especially as you have already felt the benefits of eating living food. I, too, have struggled to stick with this but it seems to get easier to get on track each time - well, maybe not easier, but I get back on track faster, I think.:) See you around.

I just wanted somewhere where I can pop in and say hello to you all without completely going
off the topic of someones thread! Sometimes all
I want to do is simply say "Hello everyone - and have a great day!"

I am concerned about having enough iron intake on raw. I have been diagnosed with atrial fibrillation and don't want to take the harsh anti arrythmic meds. I am on a blood pressure medication and a blood thinner.
I am not in menaupause and the coumadin sure increases the flow.
So I also have a problem with anemia.
Any suggestions on keeping up my iron stores would be appreciated.
I hope to ease into raw gently with a clear consciousness of healing my poor battered body and soul.
I just hope I can understand this forum better.
Thanks for reading along!:hug
