We are going to Disney next year and I wanted to get your ideas for eating raw away from home. We're flying there so I can't really take too much. We'll be spending most of our days in the parks. What are some ideas and tips you can give me on eating raw while there?

Hey RB!

You might want to consider making some green smoothie fruit rollups. They travel well and will pack easily and is a wholesome treat.

I've never been to Disney, so I'm no good in helping you with any places to eat...

Take my own food
Ask for ONLY Raw foods, and have my own dressing
Eat before going out and then just visit with friends

Option 2 works well :) That about sums up the choices though!

There's a thread on here that mentions eating raw at Disney.

If I were going anywhere, I would ship items to wherever I'm going or buy stuff in the area.

Bananas & apples are good portable foods that don't need refrigeration or prep. There's all kinds of raw bars and other snacks you can make or buy. Matter of Flax hummus & crackers is perfect for traveling and they have snack packs. You just add water to the hummus so you don't need to refrigerate. You can make your own dehydrated food powders. Other ideas: dried fruits, trail mix, baby carrots.

There are suppose to be a lot of fruit stands there. Not sure if that applies to both Disneys or just Disneyland.

I have a blog post (http://www.rawfoodtalk.com/blog.php?b=16189)about this subject. I have travelled a lot in the past five months since going raw. Ultimately though, it is a mindset. How important is it to you to stay raw? If it is very important, you will find a way no matter what. If it is not that important, you will go off raw in spite of all the best advice in the world.

Exatly that.

there are many grocery stores in that area. just ask for fresh uncooked food. If you know where you'll be eating, dining package, call ahead & discuss it. they will always try to help.

I brought a cooler to Disney with raw granola bars, fruits, even nice salads and whathaveyou. I assume they will still do this. In my case, I let them know in advance I am on a special diet, and I had to stop at the customer service desk to get signed off and checked out. I just shopped locally and brought food in with me.

I also did this at Six Flags.

We have this really neat cooler that is like a nice piece of luggage, wheels and everything. If you can snag something like that, you will use it again and again. Works well for picnics too. :)

Have fun on your trip!
