What would be the best way to prepare the following foods which are known to be good for the liver ? I want to be good to my liver and consume these often.

broccoli, brussels sprouts, cauliflower, artichokes, asparagas, radishes

I don't have any flair for making recipes but I know I luv the ones that I find here. Nevertheless, I would think that this is not an easy list.

Well, I really like raw veggies just eaten with a dip. But I know you don't do a lot of nuts. Maybe with the zucchini hummus? I like ALL those veggies raw, with the exception of the artichokes. I have never heard of eating raw artichokes.

Do you have a dehydrator? Aleesha had a recipe for brussel sprouts marinated and then dehydrated and eaten like popcorn. I am going to give that a try.

I like broccoli and Cheeze Sauce (Cheddar Cheese Sauce-The Bomb.....it is very easy to make, but it does have nuts or sunflower seeds in it) I put it in the dehydrator.

That sounds really good. ( Actually I do a bit of nuts and seeds, no avocados, a little oil is ok. ) Zuchini hummus would work, wouldn't it? I think to really enjoy variety I should start using a dehydrator. I juice and blend huge amounts of food.. but a dehydrator is more gourmet. At least I think so.
I don't crave variety the way I used to.. I think the smoothies and juices have me feeling nourished. Nevertheless, there are dehydrator recipes here that look awesome. You are right about a dip: to make these veggies interesting I just need a good basic dip recipe that I can modify with all kinds of spices.

Artichokes, hmmm, maybe if I soaked or marinated them then juiced them ? They apparently are a major liver food.

Thank you katchmoleen,

I just got a bunch of cauliflower from the garden (end of the season here), and chopped some up in the food processor (FP), to make "rice."

Then you can spice them up, and roll them in Nori sheets (if you like this).
You may want to try some diff't spice combos etc. to get one you like.

I have a recipe in my head, but have just not gotten around to actually inventing it, where I'll put some sliced marinated peppers (again, I have an abundance of them from the garden) and thinly sliced onions to make "sauteed-like" ppers and onions to add to the cauliflower rice.

I may also try to make stuffed peppers: again, in my head...Slicing a pepper in half, marinating and putting in the D to shrivel a little (like cooked), then adding some "cauliflower rice stuffing" and dehydrating a few more hours.

The cauliflower rice is very simple.

Oh my gosh. That is fantastic -- this is how I'm going to fulfill my avocado sushi cravings!! Thank you!! (Sorry to barge, but I guess I missed all the "process cauliflower into rice-looking stuff" discussions and it's brilliant!)

Most of those things are so good raw (radishes - mmm, now I'm craving them), but the marinated/dehydrated Brussels sprouts like katchmoleen mentioned are deeeelicious. Asparagus probably delicious that way too.

I can help you with the broccoli and the cauliflower. Here are two of my favorite recipes that I make several times a month:

Wendy Green's Chopped Cauliflower Salad (http://renegadehealth.com/blog/2009/02/11/wendy-greens-cauliflower-chopped-salad/)

Spanish Rice (http://www.youtube.com/user/thedurianking#p/search/0/dVTgdMKDY5g)

Simple, easy, fast...and lots of fun. The raw chef in the spanish rice video is funny.

I'm getting busy trying all these recipes. Thank you. My liver thanks you too...haha.

The Spanish Rice chef is Paul Nison - if you like him, you can subscribe to his YouTube videos (same with the other recipe, that's the Renegade Health Show). I'm having the chopped salad tonight for the second time since Sunday - love it!

I hope you enjoy your new recipes. *Ü*
