Some greens have blood thinning effects. You may want to get your doctor to monitor your levels in regards to the Plavix. You just may need less but will have to eat constant amounts to keep the effect regular.

Do you monitor your blood sugar? My first few weeks on raw I really struggled with low blood sugar so I did not leave the house without nuts (I know you don't eat them now) or something else, like a banana, to quickly raise my blood sugar. AFter just a few weeks on raw you may be able to drop the metformin all together. Just start monitoring your blood sugar closely, and when it starts to drop consistantly, cut your dose in half, then fourth, then stop. On the Simply Raw film, he had them ALL cut all their diabetes meds in half on the second day. Then by two weeks they were off everything. Have your doctor monitor your choleserol and the Crestor may be able to go soon too. My blood pressure also dropped like a rock on raw, so byby lisinopril and mamitpril.

Before you know it you will be off ALL your drugs! Yay you! Tres bien!

RAW breads and oatmeals, yes, but not cooked. And actually they are not that good for the heart, because they raise insulin and blood sugar levels and those are what really cause high cholesterol and heart disease. It's why all diabetics eventually get heart disease.

You MUST buy a glucometer and check your blood sugar levels. I am amazed and apalled at doctors who don't think their diabetic patients need to do this. Knowing how certain foods affect my blood sugar keeps me motivated.

Anyway, you can find some recipes for raw breads on this site.

When I spent two weeks outside Paris (Eragny Sur Oise) as an 18 year old, that fresh French bread bought from the bakery every morning and eaten with every meal, plus eaten as pan au chocolat each afternoon made me gain 14 pounds in two weeks!

Blueberries are low glycemic. There are tons of them here in Quebec. People from the Lac St Jean area are called " les bluets".. the blueberries. I luv them. They freeze well too. I remember freezing enough one year so that my family and I could eat some almost every day of winter.

Now THAT would be heaven! Blueberries don't grow well here in Montana, unfortunately. We have huckleberries but they are not abundant and you have to climb mountains and encounter hungry bears to get them.

katchmoleen,
We have lots of u-pick blueberry farms here. Blueberries are plentiful: a family of four can get many baskets per hour and its in the sunshine and fresh air. Yes, its heaven.

marc,
Yes from quebec, near Montreal, some great blueberry farms but not as many as Lac St J.. Blueberries can rejuvenate the brain as well. A powerful berry. I don't go much for goji or other exotic foods. I think its preferable to eat food grown closer to home. I also pick and eat apples from Rougemont.

katchmoleen,

never been there, but here we tend to regard Montana as a natural and beautiful place. Some products in health food stores have bee pollen from Montana. Its as if they are saying toxin and pollution free. When I think of Montana I think of fresh mountain air.
