Hello,
I have decided to go on a two week detox drinking ONLY green smoothies.
As I have never been raw or vegan or anything before I'm worried. I know how good it is going to be for me and I plan on going 100% RAW so I thought I would start off with a two week detox to get me on the right track. (and also to drop a bit of weight I gained in London before I go back home to where it will be bikini season)

I am just wondering what to expect will I get detox sypmtoms in such a small space of time. Is it wise to do it this way?

Any advice anyone has to offer will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Heaps

Hi there, I just finished a two week smoothie fast, and that was after being raw over four months. I still detoxed! You can find the thread about it in the fasting session.

I had headaches, fatigue, mild diarrhea/constipation, body aches. The usual detox!

However I have a number of longstanding health issues. If you don't, you may not experience the same thing.

It's hard to tell what will happen with each person... whether they will detox, what form it will take, etc.

Is it wise? Well, you'll be receiving more nutrients and fiber than you ever have in your life.

Here's an interview (http://rawkinradio.com/?s=Clent) I did with someone who went on smoozies for 2 years after eating SAD/CRAP all his life.

Seems good if you can do it.

Thanks heaps I will go read that.
Yea I'm a little bit scared about detoxing but I know in the end it will be worth it.
I have a few health issues I get really weak sometimes and can just collapse without notice which is scary. I really struggled with it a few months ago and even had to leave work as I was collapsing and sick so much.
As the doctors couldn't find anything wong it will be really interesting to see if going RAW helps with that.

Hello there,

Detox is different for everyone and depends on a lot of factors like your age, how toxic your previous lifestyle was, which body systems are "weaker" at the moment than others ect...

The most common detox symptoms are headache, fatigue, cold and flu like symptoms, digestive issues (usually diarrhea) and skin eruptions.

Detox can be rough but it usually doesn't last too long at a one time and it is definitely worth regaining your health!

Blessings,

Audrey

From my understanding, raw food life is one long continual cleansing. Whether you experience mild or heavy symptoms is individual. But you are forever cleaning house and repairing on live foods!

Hey CaughtKnee,
I have been raw for about a month and have lost 20 lbs! I have been following the raw food diet detox and have not totally juiced. Now, before taking on this lifestyle, I was 295 lbs. So you KNOW there were some toxins in there.

The first week was not too bad though. I experienced cystic acne on my face, arms, and chest. I also had bowel movements 3 times a day and they smelled terrible (like rubber hockey pucks..they still smell really weird occasionally...I chalk it up to detox). Afterward, my skin started to glow and cleared, my hemoglobin went from 11.3-11.6 (too low to donate blood) back to a normal 12.5. (I put lots of kale and lemon in my green juice) and my cough variant asthma disappeared! I have "tested" myself several times and whenever I walk into the "cheese" section of Wholefoods, my chest gets tight and I start to cough. I think I am allergic the cheese molds. My hair and nails now grow so fast! Oh yes, I did not gain a single pound during my PMS/menstraul (sp) phase (normally I put on 10 lbs easy during this time)!!!

I have found that when I experience detox symptoms, immediately subsequent to the event (provided I ride it out) I lose a significant amount of weight (like 3 lbs). Literally overnight.

Good luck and tell me how it goes.

Oh! One more thing! I have done EVERYTHING out there (including a clinical study in which I ate 800 calories a day, and ran every other day for 400 calories, netting only 600 calories per day).

Normally, on a regular diet, I was hungry and angry and I observed minimal weight loss (like sometimes none...think Atkins...)

I have found on this lifestyle, I am stuffing my face, eating all I want whenever I am hungry and the weight is literally flying off without me trying! So much so, I am blogging about this journey.

I believe that you will find this lifestyle easier than what you anticipate.

Thanks everyone for your help!
I'm three days in and I'm feeling GREAT! I'm surprised at how much energy I have I have spent these days exercising non stop at the beach and swimming most of they day and when I'm not swimming I'm running around playing sports with the 8 year old son of the people we are staying with.

I have had cravings but I have not given in even when a friend bought me my FAVOURTIE cherry danish I still didnt give in.

My mum is doing it now only green smoothies but she is also trying to wean herself off coffee which is hard for her because she has aqlways been a coffee addict. She is mainly drinking cranberry fruit teas which she will try and go onto Lemon and hot water afterwards.

Thanks again everyone all you information and encouragement has been really helpfull.
I'm off to have another swim burn off some more of this energy

Thanks heaps

Yep! I got those tiny bumps

I got them on my chest and arms.

They will go away. Though they did come back around my girl stuff.

I used it as an excuse for a facial

I am amazed this morning I woke up and looked in the mirror and I looked TONED My stomach was flat and it had a definition line down the middle.
