I'm finally getting brave enough to post some full length before and "during" pictures. I have a problem in that I hate all pictures of myself and honestly have a hard time seeing any difference, even though I KNOW intellectually that 46 pounds lost make a lot of difference!

But anyway, five months raw today, and my health just keeps getting better. My husband is THRILLED with my weight loss, and someone at church FINALLY noticed my weight loss last night. :D

The picture was taken July 4th 2008, when I was at my heaviest. I was trying my best to hide between the people next to me!

Stats: 46 pounds lost, 38 of them since going raw June 12th.
No longer pre-diabetic.
Blood pressure low normal.
Migraines almost eliminated,
Fibromyalgia and energy levels greatly improved.
Insomnia non-existant.
Perimenopausal symptoms greatly improved.

Your face looks TOTALLY different! And like you said - you were "hiding" in the first - so it's kind of hard to tell, except your thighs sure do look a lot smaller. Forty-six lbs is nothing to sneeze at.

Good for you!!!!!

I need this inspiration!

Wow!!! Oh my goodness, do you ever look fantastic!!! I love how spunky and lively your pose is in the second picture - you've got all that sparkling "raw confidence" with your healthy "new" body! I'll bet your Body is as happy about the weight loss and all the incredible, positive changes even more than your Hubby! :D

Congratulations, Kathleen - you really glow!!!

Wow, I was so excited to find a new "before & after" here tonight and then to find out it was you! And now I know your name. "Kathleen":)
You look so pretty. What a change. I agree that you look so much more confident too. Thanks so much for sharing all your stats - what a testament to the kind of food we are eating. We all are so encouraged by your transformation, Katch!

You still don't like pictures because you still have a long way to go. A few years later if you keep this up you'll look in the mirror and you'll say WOW! Is that me?

Just keep at it and remember your inner being is always radiant and beautiful no matter what! The rest is just mind stuff.

Best of luck

Thanks everyone.
According to the "charts" if I lose 20 more pounds I will be in a normal weight range for my age. But I have always had problems with body image. Even when I was a lil' ol' size 6 in college, I thought I looked like a hippopotamus.

I am a size 14 now. Was a size 20-22 in the first picture. But I have a hard time seeing a difference. It is almost like I am brain damaged. Does anyone else struggle with this? I would like to love myself no matter what.

Being raw has definitely been beneficial for my health and my weight. I hope it will also fix my warped brain someday!

Um, yes! Like everyday of my life! LOL! (bolded area)

Just keep on keeping on. That's what I do. Stupid stumbles come my way? I step over them (or around them)!

I just don't give up...

Yes, sweetie, I have exactly the same problem - exactly. I may have told you already - it began when my Mum said, while fitting a dress she was making for me around my hips, that I was "very well endowed". Immediately I took it to mean that I was fat. I was 11 or 12. ( And my sisters are most definitely taller and slimmer than I have ever been.) I have been in a love/hate relationship with my body ever since - like you. Just yesterday I felt bloated, "looked" fat in the mirror until after I put on my clothes and walked around the apartment for a while doing stuff. Then I felt my clothes were looser and I looked much better in the mirror. It also has to do with when I have not been able to "poop" in the a.m. early before dressing. But I imagine it has way more to do with that lousy image I have of myself. Not fun. But I just know we are truly healing ourselves. So we won't turn back. Right? Right!:D

Do have a great day.

xoxo
Sue.

What I recommend doing is to stand in front of that said mirror EVERY day, preferrably at the same time. Say out loud. "You sure look good. You are beautiful. I like you."

Before you know it all of a sudden one day you WILL say it out loud and MEAN it. And of course others will start saying it too. And you will mean it because you ARE!

One day at a time folks. One day at a time...

...we all had to crawl before we walked...

Kat, you look great! You have a raw glow going for you, too! :D

Like you, sometimes I lookl so different and other times I struggle to see the difference. It helps to have a before and a series of after picks. When I feel discouraged because the weight is releasing too slowly, I look back at the last after pick and am reassured, YEP, still losing weight and looking good.

Keep posting 'em!

Kat,

You look fabulous! What I'm more excited about is that you healed your pre-diabetic body. Did you have to limit anything (like fruits) to accomplish this?

Hi homeschool mom, I'm a homeschool mom too! So tell me please --- what will I replace my coffee with, what do you eat for energy to deal with emotional & educational needs? I also need energy for physical exercise, swimming, jogging =- Thanks!

Yes, you truly radiate! :)

I hope you keep up posted with your photos. I'm greatly inspired by success stories such as this one. How about your family? Are they also on raw food? I'm struggling on how to explain my diet to the people around here.
